The random picker has decided for a Mini set this time, and why not. 
The Kalos Starter Set was a mini set released a few weeks before the XY set, November 8, 2013. It’s mainly focused about the Kalos Starter Pokémon: Chespin; Fennekin; and Froakie, hence the name of the set.

I was about to say that the artworks of some of these cards are not new but reprints but I tried finding one and turns out I’m wrong! But what to they look close. Those 3 cards actually.

The Kalos starter set and the actual XY base set sort of run together for me, since they came out slightly before I got back into collecting. But those early XY sets are among my least favorites ever, mainly because of the art. I’m really glad they’ve pulled way back on the CG art for commons/uncommons/rares since then.
Also, looking through the set list, I just remembered that Swirlix exists. Once in a while I just completely forget a Pokemon.

I’ve got no real attachment to this set. Mainly because this was before I got back into Pokémon again and the cards themselves got nothing spectacular going on. Though I do like the Snubbull & Granbull cards with their similar pose even though they were drawn by different artists.
