Selling my PSA 1st edition PSA 10 Base set, and other Nice Card, who shall I sell with?

Hi guys!

My name is Peter and I’m thinking of selling my whole collection! I have acquired a lot of nice cards through the years.

Like the post stated I have a 1st edition base set in PSA 10. (Just holos and an extra Blastoise)

Along with a 1st edition Lugia neo genesis PSA 10.

Base set box.

A lot of gold stars in PSA 10. Including Zard.

Crystal Zard PSA 10.

And a lot more, although, I’m reaching out to hear your thoughts on where to sell? Before I sell it’s good to hear some opinions first

My plan is to put the money in stocks. Idk if that’s the right move but I think the money could grow faster that way.

Tbh, I don’t think it’s the right time to sell either  so it’s a bit of a dilemma.

So, need your opinions. Thanks :pray:t3:

100% use a consignment service. You get better rates and full protection from scam buyers

Since your collection is so high end, consignment services will likely offer a better rate than they advertise if you work with them.
Ensure each card is sold in a separate auction, not as a lot.

I’d reach out to smpratte, z&g, ketchemallcollectables, etc. and see what they can offer.
Advertisement during a sale like this is also very important so please think of that when deciding.

Good luck!
I would love to know the results and the method you choose!

I would reach out to Fanatics Collect (PWCC), Goldin, and Heritage and send the high-end cards to their Premier / Elite auctions. See what they say. You should be able to make a better deal than their advertised consignment rates given the value of the collection that you’re selling. I would also recommend to sell it piecewise, as this will net you a lot more than selling complete sets.

In my opinion, the Charizard should go to Heritage and the booster box(es) should go to Heritage or Goldin. Some folks prefer to diversify where they sell their collections because each platform has its pros/cons and the buyer pools will look different at each.

Whether you want to consign with someone is up to you. Folks like @smpratte and @gottaketchumall could sell your cards on PWCC, and @TCAGaming and @jcincy101 (Z&G) could sell your cards on eBay. They do pretty great at advertising.

There is also the largest card consigner on eBay, Probstein123.

Tried to give you as many options as possible. Good luck!

If your considering a legacy auction house be sure to take all fees into account before making your decision and understanding them prior to committing (eg buyers premium on the front end, seller fees on the back end etc).

Not saying other options are better (or worse) but something to keep in mind.

Best of luck on the sale!

Update:

Goldin - super good service, video chat with them and they walked me through the whole process, even invited me there. They would fix under 5% fees. Sidenote, they said they could beat every fees I get.

Fanatics - talked to a guy named Hector…I was not happy with that experience😅. The whole thing was just off! He don’t know what customer service is…although, now he wants me to send pictures of the cards, I belive it is so he know for sure I’m 100 serious. That’s fine, I understand that.

Let’s see how it goes! Thank you everyone for your thoughts! Love this community

Goldin takes premium, so they have no trouble give you low fee.

I would think you make less money with Goldin then others

Agreed. I think Fanatics will actually get you the highest hammer price even if the fees are higher. May be helpful do an excel graph of when sale price and fees hit a mid point to see which is the better option between multiple companies

by 5% fee, you mean you are getting 115% of hammer? if so that is pretty good for goldin they must really want them

Well it took a few yers but this seems like the new way around fishing for buyers on here.

Seems not too long ago @smpratte nixed the trading forum because people were stealthily trying to list their items they wanted eyes on.

The Buy/Trade section resurrected and has been active for almost 2 years!

I’ve spoken to this member privately and their inquiry is genuine. Ultimately these type of threads are a judgement call. If this topic style feels abused over time we can figure out a solution!

Just make sure goldin doesnt force you to sell as a set as they have famously done to bad results for many other things lol
