I think with trainers it’s more of a character line Pokémon are. But yeah I understand what you’re saying
I was also going to say this.
I like the scroll and I’m not knocking it — I think it’s a beautiful card. But people have a pre-existing relationship to Pokémon characters whether they are Pokémon, human, or otherwise. They even have a relationship to items like Rare Candy and Poké Flute. They know what those items are, they’ve used them in their games, they know what they do and have memories of their use. But the Master Scroll is a recognition of status and isn’t something featured in the video games, the anime, or even earlier incarnations of the TCG.
There is no nostalgia for the Master Scroll and it doesn’t have the automatic attachment a lot of other Pokémon cards benefit from.
But I also don’t think this is really a factor. Those who know what the Master Scroll even is or where it comes from have already reached a heightened awareness in the hobby. People who want it probably would not be swayed in any way by whether or not it contained a recognizable aspect of the IP.

Agreed and I would go even further to say that a major pull to cards like Scroll/Key/Orb/Ring are for their rarity and exclusivity - these in essence stand at polar opposites to the nostalgic factor.
Though I’ll also say for the Scroll in particular, one other big pull to it is that:

Its really odd for me actually. I DO have a nostalgic attachment for the scroll because I remember seeing it on bulbapedia many many years ago and just being amazed at how shiny it was. I think back then they used the “fake holo” pics that the japanese pokemon site has, but i googled more pics after.
Couldnt buy though since it was $400 at the time. But ended up being one of the first things I bought when I started spending $.

Obviously I didnt care for it being rare or hard to obtain at the time, just liked the look.

Had the same experience lol. I remember being awestruck seeing it on my old computer for the first time and that has progressed into nostalgia.

Don’t like the art of Master’s Scroll. Same category as most 5Ban cards.

Oh boy.
I might be falling for 
, but I will say the Master Scroll has that HGSS hand painting look vs the more generic 3d rendered scrolls from 5ban which really helps it pop and look unique.

I wonder how hard it was actually too get the master scroll , I have read on Pukomon how the point system was like in Daisuki club but seeing we only have a very few out in the wild and graded
8600 points seems not very achievable
Also @pfm I miss the Scroll banner that use too be one of the options but I don’t think it is anymore I keep refreshing but no luck
