Likely pokemon pearl, played it as my first video game ever a TON, i’ve got like 900h on it. The other contenders would be Pokémon saphir, given that i’ve got like 10 kyogre on pearl I think I farmed it.
And pokemon go, that I also played a ton for like 4 years, when pvp released I actually got ranked in the top 100 because of a completely busted lamantine that was super exclusive due to rare moves lol
Without a doubt Emerald. After that I think it’s either Gold (played it so much as a kid) or Blue (same as Gold but probably not sooo many hours on it). But both don’t come even close to the hours I spent on my various copies of Emerald.
I was actually thinking about this the other day. It’s hard to say how much time I actually put into any game as a kid because time felt different. If I had to guess it is probably Gold/Silver/Crystal. I had them all so I don’t know which one I played the most. I remember playing them over and over. Red/Blue/Yellow and Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are probably close though. I’ve also put a considerable amount of time into each game since then but I don’t think anything beats those out.
It’s probably a close tie between Gold, Crystal, and Sword. I’ve played through the Gen 2 games more than any others, but I spent an embarrassing amount of time playing VGC online in Sword during the pandemic.
Even though I’m a “genwunner” and started with Red version, played it a ton, and played Silver a ton, I’d probably have to say Y version. I played that to death with my girlfriend and best friend when it came out. We would trade, shiny hunt, complete the pokedex, wonder trade etc. and just enjoy the games together. I remember sitting in my friend’s room chain fishing for shiny Skrelp and getting really excited when hitting it in under ten casts. I think X&Y really nailed the jump to 3D and are probably the 2nd best games behind HGSS imo. They’re the last games/generation (including ORAS in the generation) where you could complete the full national dex before the ‘reset’ in Sun/Moon, and the looker post-game quest was really cool. X&Y have a special place in my heart.
I probably played Pokemon Silver for like 1000+ hours on my purple gameboy color. Man I loved that game! My best friend and I would have sleepovers on weekends and played sometimes until 5 or 6 AM because we couldn’t put our gameboys down
Probably Fire Red / the Kanto region in general, although I used to sink thousands of hours into PokèMMO on and off since 2012, it has Black/White, Fire Red, Emerald ,Platinum and HeartGold/SoulSilver to play through
My parents did not buy me a GB when red/blue/yellow came out so I was playing/looking with my friends.
Then I had the possibility to buy a Nintendo DS so as soon as HGSS were released I played a lot, not so much I would do as a kid because I was already working but I’ve done my best
During lockdown here in Italy I played a lot of Sword and Shield, awful game but days were really long…
Forever in my heart, after Ruby/Shappire/Emerald best games ever made:
Go for sure. As far as the main console games go, probably Silver. I never spent too much time on them. Even playing as Pokémon in Super Smash Brothers would have taken more time.
I started with RBY, but was pretty young when they came out (I was 8 when they released in the US) so didn’t appreciate it quite as much as some of the later games. Enjoyed GSC of course but the Gen 3 games hit the sweet spot for me in terms of age and understanding I think. Gen 3 is probably the most nostalgic to me, especially LeafGreen. I’m sure I have more time on that. That, or Shield. SWSH got me back into Pokémon and I played it a ton. I also was pretty into VGC for a while (though I was never any good).
