I’ve been following some of the recent pwcc auctions and some of the cards seem to sell for much less than market value. Is this due to the large listing done by pwcc?
example of one the cards that ended much lower than market value that i got from the last auction block
Yep they often go low, however being in the UK I have never bought a card from PWCC. I actually find their prices go too high compared to the bargains we get in the UK/EU time to time.
Auctions will always have the most variability in price. You see record breaking prices when at least two people are passionately bidding on something. You also see auctions where only one person was really interested in it at that moment in time. Since ebay uses the second-price auction system, the second highest bidder determines the price paid. If the second person interested in paying the market value is not bidding, the card will end below market.
The increased variability auction prices results in cards ending higher than previous sold listings as well as many cards ending under. The velocity of PWCC auctions probably only amplifies this variability.
I think I got mine for around the same price too a couple auction blocks ago. In my experience, PSA 10 Unlimited cards sell for much lower in PWCC auctions.
Do yourself a favor (if you’re not located in the US) and check the shipping costs before purchasing cards in their auction. Shipping is quite pricy if you just buy one or two cards for a low price.
Import duties being imposedd to australia, higher than before shipping costs and not marking their packages at a lower value are a combination of factors that are dissuading international buyers from participating in their auctions, which is potentially limiting the number of ppl bidding on their auctions.
