PSA VS BGS & Compare/Analyse Results

A question for you then Ben. If my card that currently sits in a PSA case could theoretically get a BGS 10, does that mean it is currently not perfect?

No, your cards are xy cards recently opened pack fresh, there is no way you can judge a card by what case it is in, all you can do is judge the card and decide to cross it over or not.

I am confident that 90% of your cards would get the Black Label. It is up to you to cross them over or not.

Fair call. I guess what I mean and what I was eluding to is that I consider all of my PSA 10’s as perfection already.

I guess I’m not yet a hardcore collector >.<

No no no, it isnt about being a hardcore collector, and there shouldnt be a thing that just is. I am not better collection then any bodies collection… Im just doing this for myself, because in my own opinion, and mine alone ( masybe some others in future/ out there now ), I is interested in the most Pristine copy of each card i desire that is out there… I might not even ever find one, and that is the challenge that makes pokemon collecting so awesome, and leaving legacy behind that you believe in. For instance - I said I was going to stop spending when I got that charizard no raRITY, but since i got it i have spent another 3-4k on pokemoon cardlings because I have adjusted my goals much higher, and because i cant miss out on each oppotunbity, and i dont know if anyones noticed this lately, but there has been an insain amount of oppotunities.

Edit: I also want to note is spent all these monies from selling alot of stuff to, there no way i can spend this much without selling ect.

Two things I’d like to say:

  1. The grade doesn’t affect the quality of the card.
    And
  2. With ALL English cards a pristine grade is like the ultimate shock. Sorta like you’d get in an electric chair. With Japanese cards a pristine grade is a total surprise. If you hope for one, especially a black label, you’ll be sorely disappointed 99.9% of the time. And if you ever do get one it’ll pop up out of nowhere and you won’t believe your eyes.

I love this thread. We can have fun with it or fight over it, And maybe, just by accident, we could learn something from it. All we have to do is not take anything too personal. I mean, it’s not like some goofball used tape inside a package which is an offense worthy of that electric chair;)

muhhahahaha you would be proud, pokesynd has bean trained, no tape was used on the package inside this time sir… However it was my golden oppotunity to send you mountains of tape and i didnt, becuase i forgott :sob:

Peeps must prepare for future gradlings.

Had I found even one iota of the dreadful adhesive I would have turned the package over to my toddler to have her way with it… :ninja:

That would’ve been fun. You should see how I wrap my cousins gifts >:]

Don’t paraphrase me. If you want to quote, provide the whole line.

A typical Australian phrase which literally means ā€œuntil we are exhaustedā€.

The only cards that really sell with BGS are Gem-Mints. So, compared to PSA. PSA has the much better market for selling.

yeah good point from a selling standpoint… so it would truely be a decision for a collection preference… However I hope that will change, and will get more bgs stuff into market. There is some engrish 10’s, and japanese 10’s popping up but there very… very expensive, and so they should be… However I dont think buying gives a big attatchment to a card… It feels like you didnt earn it, but some cards you gotta just buy.

Interesting. Our expression goes just, ā€œBlue in the faceā€!

I was going green in the face before… You won’t like me when im angry.

Yep

Funny how different countries have different ways of saying the same thing.

I think it derives from ā€œblack and blueā€ which would indicate bruising. That would indicate arguing to the point of physical violence, which is pretty common Aussie slang.

Maybe they dropped the ā€˜black’ here due to the shame of the slave era.

You know what, fuck that. Let there be less BGS graded PokƩmon cards. That just means a more unique collection in your hands my friend.

For my own education, do you mind to elaborate on how Becketts standards have changed over time? Did they start with giving out a lot of high grades, then changed criteria to give less high grades?
