PSA SET REGISTRY : NEW SET REQUEST GUIDE
For the past while the PSA Set Registry’s new set requests form have been locked down due to a back log at PSA. As of 08/30/24 it’s back up and running so I thought I’d compile an article about how to use it.
Firstly you will be required to have a PSA/Set Registry account and be logged in to make full use of this service.
So, let’s say you want to see if a PSA set currently exists or not in the Set Registry. If you use the PSA website psacard.com under Set Registry, located top right there will be the Explore tab. Click this and a drop down menu will now be visible.
Since we’re on a Pokemon forum, I’ll assume we’re looking for or to add a new Pokemon set so lets hit TCG. This will now open up the TCG Category section. Throughout this guide as an example I will be showing the 2007 Pokemon Japanese World Champions Pack set.
There’s a fair few sets to scroll through in here and it’s not just Pokemon. One of the methods I use to find what I’m looking for is to simply refer to the date of the sets release.
If you’re unsure what year the set was released in, sites like Bulbapedia will more than likely have all the information you’re looking for.
If you can’t find the set you’re looking for within any of these categories then it’s now time to submit your own! To do this you can follow this Set Requests page linked below.
Once you’re on this page, use the link provided at the top called request form. I can’t link this page directly as it requires a log in.
Now it’s time to provide details of the set you’d like to submit. The first option to select is Category, which you should have seen a few steps before although, it’s not just TCG now.
You’ll want to scroll roughly half way down until you reach the TCG - section. This is where you’ll select what category you think works best for your set. If you’re not sure, take a look back in the category page from the explore tab to find where your set will fit.
Once you’re confident what category the set will go in, click one option from the list and that’s Category done.
Next you have the New Checklist Name to fill out. I’d highly recommend to once again, go back to the category page and try and copy how other submitters have named their sets.
For example, if all corresponding sets are named 2007 Pokemon Japanese…etc, you don’t want to be the one who makes Japanese Pokemon 2007…etc. So best just double check that. One that’s filled in we move on to Comments.
Comments is a peculiar one. Honestly I’m not entirely sure what PSA expects you to say however, I just tend to add relevant things to the set that they might need to know. I tend to keep things short and sweet like how many holos are in a set if I’m building a new holofoils registry set. I’ll let you decide what needs to be filled in here.
Up next we have Certification Numbers.
This is where my example falls short as I can’t proceed with submitting this set due to the following.
You must have at least 5 cards in the set in order to make your request. Since I don’t have 5 cards in my set registry from this set it won’t be able to be submitted. Even if I list 5 PSA card cert numbers that other people own from this set it won’t work.
So as long as you do have 5 cards from the set in your set registry, copy your cards cert numbers into these 5 boxes. Once happy and the form is all filled in, press Submit Request at the bottom to have completed the PSA Set Registry New Set Request Form!
So what now? Well before thinking of this guide I did submit a few sets recently and here is what happens next.
You’ll receive an email from the PSA Set Registry informing you that your checklist has been requested and will be reviewed by PSA.
If all things look good then you’ll be emailed again with great news that your set has been accepted and is now online on the PSA Set Registry!
I hope you found this guide informative and good luck with your PSA Set Registry journey!
