Last year it took them 1 mo. & 21 days to respond to an email I sent them (Nov 7th to Dec. 28th. I forgot I even sent it), so they can be a bit slow to email. I would definitely give them a ring if they haven’t responded by Monday.
They didn’t comment at all about any of the images I took, or that users here made to help me. Understandable I guess. I guess I have to pay for shipping to send it back to PSA for review. Their first response is about tampering, which the card most certainly is not tampered with. I guess I have to make sure to take full video of the case so that nothing shady can be done…
So if they do determine that it is infact a fake stamp and they graded it, what happens? Do they give you any sort of financial compensation based on what you paid/what they have been selling for on ebay etc? I understand workers at PSA are human and mistakes are going to happen here and there, we can be sure of that. However I am curious to see how they’re going to own up/make up for their mistake considering it is a pretty big one lol
They either buy it back or refund the difference between values if it drops grades at their discretion. Being that this would be deemed a not authentic stamp on an authentic card I don’t know how that works. I would think they would have to buy it for market value of what they graded it as and ideally destroy the card unfortunately. They shouldn’t really send fakes back out. In the case of a card dropping grades, they regrade it properly and reimburse the difference in market values for the original grade to the new one.
So a friend of mine was sending two 1st edition shadowless charizards to PSA with me this month. After reading through this thread I decided to check his stamps before sending. After looking it was obvious one was off. Smudged my finger across it and viola.
Also asked if it was from marcdelvi on ebay and he confirmed it was. He also got him to pay through paypal f/f. Stay clear of this guy lol.
Why are people so cheap to do F&F payments of several hundreds of dollars to save 2.9%? Terrible thing to see. I wonder if there is any chance to get the stamp completely off without damaging the card?
That is exactly what happened to my card! Was so gutted! At least the guy refunded me, however I was still out of pocket as it was shipped the the global shipping program via eBay! He had loads of 1st editions, Venusaur’s, blastoise’s etc. I feel sorry for all the other buyers who do t realise they’ve got an expensive shadowless card with a fake stamp!
I linked it earlier, and gottaketchumall also relinked it
I made my graded purchase through ebay from him, it is way too late now to do anything about it though. I messaged him to let him know I finally realized the scam he pulled. clearly psa stopped taking them from him at least.
He’s a young kid and didn’t know the difference. When I asked how he paid through paypal I had to explain there’s 2 different options lol. Felt bad. And I think I can do it without damaging the card. It smudged extremely easy actually and really didn’t take much pressure. The owner said to leave it how it is for now as he’s trying to get a refund (won’t happen), but i’m sure I can easily make it back into a regular shadowless charizard without damaging the card at all.
Maybe specify that just the stamp is the only concern? Since the rest of the card actually is real. Make them focus on just the aspect of the stamp. Maybe there’s a chance they are overlooking it like they did before? I know that sounds silly for a professional company but look at the point we reached already.
Not sure if you have to give them permission to break the case to actually gain access to the stamp, or if they are just looking at it from the outside, but that might be the only way they can tell if it’s fake. It’s been a while since I read the whole thread, but I just assumed they wouldn’t break the case unless they had to.
Ask them to reholder it and when doing so wipe the stamp lightly with their finger. Show them pictures of smudged ones with similar font and in similar location to your stamp. Show a video of how a real one wouldn’t smudge. Can’t think of much else.
Seems like they weren’t informed as to what was wrong with it? Reply it has an after market 1st Ed stamp and how you can tell. Explain the main reason your informing them is so they’ll know what to look for when authenticating others.
they need a grader who is educated on how to spot fake stamps, its laughable that a ‘professional’ grading and authenticating company can’t tell a fake stamp from a real stamp, even when they have been made aware that the card is not right
