PSA Pop/APR errors

Has anybody else encountered errors in the PSA pop or APR report feature? And if so, did you try to resolve them?

Why I ask is because I have seen several errors both in PSA labels and auction/sold listings in the pop report, specifically a few of the cards that I bought myself. I know that you can send in cards that are mislabeled and PSA will fix them, however there are some in circulation that the buyer most likely doesn’t realize themselves. Regarding the auction/sold listings, I have several of these cards myself where there are multiple sold listings (by same seller) for the exact card (matching cert in picture) which would imply that the sale was not finalized and the buyer didn’t pay or a different cert was sold with the wrong card pictured.

In response to the multiple sold listings by same seller with same cert cards, I have used the “report item” feature to see if PSA would remove the duplicates but no action has been taken so far. I understand that PSA is overwhelmed with their current backlog of items, but has anybody seen this feature work where they have actually taken action to fix an issue like this when you or another reported it?

I know some people will respond with the “oh, it’s probably just a different cert number card being sold” but for 2 of my cards I know otherwise because when I bought the items the seller was adamant about receiving payment (rightfully so) because previous buyers didn’t pay after winning or making an offer. Despite this, the cards still appears twice in the pop with the same buy it now price and multiple higher auction sold prices. This got me thinking perhaps others know of this and actively manipulate the prices in the pop, using the different cert story as an excuse…

Let me know your opinions on this matter, as I do prefer to resolve the registry errors for the cards I own myself just because I know they are in fact errors and would prefer them to be corrected. Thanks!

You can send them in to PSA and they will fix the label and adjust the pop. Sadly, waiting times aren’t very good right now.

Ah that’s good to hear, but what about the pricing issues with the APR feature in the pop report? I can see how some could take advantage of this issue to potentially inflate prices, so I figure it would be worthwhile to explore possible corrections. For me personally, I just wanted the price I paid for my cards to show up correctly in their system, but it seems to me that PSA doesn’t correct the errors.

For those who are confused as to what I am talking about, I will create a HYPOTHETICAL SCENERIO (not using actual values either):
-Say a person has their Charizard 1st edition Holo PSA 10 listed on eBay for $1,000,000 with best offer
-Along comes a buyer who offers say $700,000 and the seller accepts
-When it comes time to pay, the buyer realizes they can’t afford the item so they back out of the sale
-PSA APR feature picks up this “sale” and records it under the card via it’s cert # (perhaps they could use a different picture or even someone else’s cert)
-This “sale” is listed under the card as sold for 1,000,000 best offer and can then be used as the most recent price point for the card

With the above info other sellers could be like, “Well, one just sold for $1mil so I want at least X for mine!” despite the actual offer or unofficial selling price being $700k which isn’t explicitly shown in their system. I don’t know if others have considered this, but if they are going to create a catalog of prices then it should be accurate or at least be receptive to corrective feedback. Though it has been a while since I have seen this myself due to lack of purchases, I was recently going through my cards and noticed some duplicate sales/auctions of a couple (nothing nefarious thankfully) and wondered how I could fix the log. The logical assumption is to use their “report item” feature, but seems as though they don’t take any action when you use it, as I have reported various issues I found in the past and no corrective measures were taken.

Has anybody else considered this and tried to find a solution, or am I exploring uncharted territory?

I’m surprised that nobody has encountered or even considered this as of yet! Perhaps it’s due to most people who have been around for a while being Pokémon sellers themselves or they just don’t pay attention to the APR feature in the PSA pop, but I think resolving this issue would be beneficial to the Pokémon community. For those new people entering the PSA graded card market, I know a lot of them refer to the APR feature to see the historical pricing beyond what eBay provides.

I plan to look into this with some good collector friends of mine, as I have already talked to a PSA rep about this and they realize it should be addressed. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this and figure a solution, as it appears PSA is at least receptive to feedback now and we plan to follow up with them. Hopefully we can come to a resolution soon as it sounds promising thus far!
