The issue is the autograph and sketch are a forgery
It’s apart of a submission where the entire order contains forged autographed and sketches.
Each cards autograph placement, date placement and sketch, are near perfect copies of actual authentic cards that have already been authenticated by PSA.
I would say these are not autopens but hand-copies. I have a suspicion on how you could do it to make it look extremely similar to the original, but maybe it’s not a good idea to share forgery strategies
Would a fake autos database/thread be wise or a silly idea
idk how anyone can actually tell either way haha
I know that this thread is already kinda that
This is how we can tell for certain.
Cards on the right are authentic and were copied. Most were also graded during the 7xxxxxx and 8xxxxxxx cert era. This is just an example of dozens I’ve seen.
Not a silly idea at all.
This is why I got out of the auto space though. Too many “what ifs” and risk factors.
These forgeries are so good that 99% of people won’t be able to tell.
Plus nothing is stopping any of the higher end artists from just saying “fk it” and doing thousands of events and just inflating the supply.
But yes, a database of knowledge forgeries would be a good shout. PSA should deactivate these certs though.
I’d be nervous buying any card that was autographed after 2020. The handful of auto cards I have are intentionally older certs 1) because I can’t stand the personalization and date and 2) I doubt many people were forging autos back then.
Provenance is the gold standard. Knowledgeable people are good at finding fake autos, but frankly it’s hard if not impossible to demonstrate an autograph to be real. Same for PSA but they are just worse at identifying fake ones.
yeah def not autopen those are really obvious. so someone has become able to draw near perfect replicas of himenos
This last Fanatics auction block had a bunch of modern autos in them. I honestly can’t tell what’s real or fake anymore.
At this point I’ve sort of resigned myself to only obtaining autos that I got in-person myself. That’s the only surefire way to know it’s real.
nothing is real
just buy personalized then at least it will more than likely be real even if its got someone elses name on it
Reading stuff like this really makes me wish I had rediscovered this hobby before 2020 when people were here because they enjoyed it.
We have the latest and greatest conering issue with PSA, hot off the press.
If you look closely at the PSA slabbed cards, you’ll noticed they have sketches on them, but not by the artist who signed the card. These cards were signed by Shibuzoh (not 100% confirmed), who is an artist who doesn’t normally sketch on cards, but these particular cards have sketches on them that we have previously seen done by different artist. To make matters worse, the sketch is done by a completely different pen, than what the card is signed with.
The Slowpoke sketch was originally drawn by Kouki Saitou two years ago during Regionals. The Mimikyu was done by Naoki Saito back in 2022/2023 at one of his personal events.Imo, this feels like some sort of test run, to see if PSA truly will slab an autographed card, even if the sketch is blantantly not done by the artist. The purpose of this would be to add sketches to cards (more convicing, not copied), for artist who don’t normally sketch, to increase the value of it. Since we have seen the price difference between a card with and without a sketch on it.
What about those of us who waited in line for 16 hours and didn’t get an auto
this seems more like taking advantage of psa’s authentication/grading system than them slabbing a fake sketch, similar to the whole fake “trading card” with an auto thing that ppl were doing to dupe unknowing buyers (i.e. i am pretty sure psa is just authenticating the auto and you can technically draw whatever you want on it otherwise). because like you mentioned those are obviously a different pen which psa would catch in an instant similar to how they can easily tell autopen etc
Jez…I guess the “Shiny sharpied in Charizards” have kind of opened the door for this kind of shenanigan. Where the autograph may be legitimate…but other aspects of the card are done by different people
