So I sent in a Russian breakthrough snorlax and today received a email from my middle man informing him that psa will not grade it due to no spec info but they have Russian flash fire and ancient origins does this seem right? I also sent in a Australia exclusive snorlax snap card which also was told can not grade…
This comes on the back of me sending in snorlax safari card (Korean) and the pokemon master board game cards (both on psa register) also to be told oh we don’t grade these now….
Is it just me that feels if a card is apart of your offical register with pop’s that surely you can not just stop grading it without also removing it from your register?
it seems PSA is missing information finding out what your cards are
I mean I could get that for the Snap card, but I really don’t know what kind of additional information they’d need for the reverse from BREAKthrough as it’s just a card from a regular expansion of which they’ve already graded a card.
And this is my argument and confusion. The snap card being Australian exclusive from what I can find with little info understand not grading that but as you said a standard set printed in Russian that they already have other languages graded and you grade both sets before and after this in Russian
I called PSA because they would not grade a couple of my Russian Breakthrough cards. The reason they gave me was they could not verify Russian XY Breakthrough release date (despite having one graded on their pop report). I’m doing my own research to help them.
So the official release was on November 23rd 2016, alongside Pokémon Sun and Moon. Prerelease tournaments were held on November 12-13 and November 19-20. However there was a Special Event in one store the evening before, where fans could already buy the game and also BREAKthrough products. Source are posts from the official Pokémon VK group Мир Pokemon (“Pokémon world”):
Thanks for this. I’m including this on my response to them if that’s okay.
From a PSA rep:
“The confirmation of an exact manufacturer release date would need to come from the Licensed Card Manufacturer.
This is one of the PSA Requirements for authentication and grading eligibility. Similar sets may have had exact release dates provided by the Manufacturer and an official checklist.”
Sure, go ahead. Regarding the manufacturer release date I wonder if they actually want to hear from in this case I believe PBM Graphics directly or if say a photo of a sealed case with the usual “not for sale before” sticker would be enough. Probably the former though.
They would not accept a picture of a booster box. I emailed TPCi support but I don’t know if they’ll have an answer for me. I just don’t understand why they can’t figure out this specific set’s release date but have been able to for the others.
“ The current official stance of PSA is that we are unable to properly authenticate or grade this item (Russian XY BreakThrough) by PSA Standards as there is not enough official manufacturer information for this specific set, including an official manufacturer release date. “Similar Sets” do not factor into the determination of the official information available for an individual set as each set is unique.
The Head of our Research Department is the highest person this request may be escalated to and their determination is final.”
