That’s a tough one given its for long term investing, but I’d go for the graded card. Blisters can degrade over time and break away from the backing card.
I guess if the packs break loose from the blisters they value drops a good amount. Have you had any luck with keeping base blisters long term? Keeping them sealed away in a cool environment?
Since I started collecting psa 9 1st ed zards have spiked a huge amount but so have 1st ed blisters. I am curious as to which item will become more scarce and valuable in the future.
I’d personally go for the psa 9 charizard. I love blisters but with first Ed base, you don’t really want to handle them much to cause any damage or loosen up the glue
They are totally different items though and not an easy choice. Go wherever your heart is. But if you’re buying the blisters, confirm the glue seal is 100% strong before purchasing and it’s from a trusted seller
There is the factor of which you would rather have in your personal collection. The Charizard is a staple of the hobby and one of the most beloved cards of all time. The packs however are also absolutely amazing pieces with iconic art and a massive nostalgia factor. Are you displaying either of them? Ultimately I think you will have to choose what you would rather have, as predicting the growth rates of the sealed packs vs a psa 9 charizard isn’t something we can reliably do.
Hahaha some of you just want me to spend all my money… -__- I appreciate it tho.
And Fazool I am mostly looking at it in an investment way to see what will keep holding value and what will become very hard to find in the future, right now there aren’t many blister for sale and they will only get more expensive as availability goes down, but that being said 1st ed zard just keeps jumping up as well. Hard to say…
Right now 1st ed zard is about 6k? And 3 1st ed blisters are listed for 6k so if not exactly the same value they are close.
I used to be a BIG FAN of Blister Packs - still really like them; just don’t have as many as I used too. I do still have Unl. Base through Fossil Blister Packs and Short / Long Crimp Shadowless Blister Packs (All 3x Art-Work). I was actually real tempted to purchase that 1st Ed. Base Blister Pack eBay Listing awhile back to complete my collection; but then I saw an IG Video of someone opening a 1st Ed. Base Blister Pack that turned-out to be a re-seal (forget who posted that video).
Anyway, that video completely turned me off of 1st Ed. Base Blister Packs! There’s just to much of a risk involved when you’re talking about dropping that kind of money. I’d personally go for the PSA 9 Zard!
If you do want to opt for the Blister Packs, make sure everything checks-out before purchasing!
Yes I agree resealing is the scariest thing in this hobby and the 1st edition base is always the main target because of the high prices. I appreciate all the input and from most comments, it looks like the Charizard is the lowest risk and possibly better investment.
