I just wanted to ask what you guys think about the fact that in October of 2016 this card was selling for around 600 to 700 dollars and is now selling for upwards of 2000. This growth seems scary to me. The demand must have increased significantly in the past year because there is still an abundance of PSA 10 Charizards that come on the market. I think that a normal growth rate for most of the pokemon collectibles is around 10% or so. If you look at the base set unlimited booster box the price for that has grown closer to the 10% number than the 100%+ for the charizard.
alll high end prize cards went up around the same percentage eg shadowless 1st edition 9s and 10s high end 10s for the market adjusting for an influx of collectors because of pokemongo and the 20th anniversary and gary on pawn stars really added together to create a massive influx in demand but still the same supply which is why we have a massive difference between then and now
Well, at today’s price, which is around $1600-$1800, the market is still absorbing the supply on the market. There is still demand at this price point.
People who got them at $600 a copy would be enticed to let their copy go for a $1000 profit. The same will happen when the card hits $2500, people would want to sell their copies that they bought for $1500, and the same when it reaches $3000, and then $3500, and so on and so forth.
Only in the long term do we ignore these step increases and look at the bigger picture. But at 320+ PSA 10 copies and increasing every week, there is gonna be a lot of steps moving forward. Upward steps and downward steps.
It had a terrible auction ending time, there was no back picture (I was sent pictures to my inbox), and the keywords were not optimal.
BUT I’m not complaining.
