PSA 10 1st ed Charizard $42.5k OBO

@marco,

Exact message from the seller:

“Thanks for your input on the PSA 10. The case does not have scratches. Unfortunately, the pictures are the best my camera is capable of. I bought the card in that case back in 1999 and paid $1200. To me it was not a perfect 10, because the centering is not perfect on the sides. The margin is slightly wider on the right, so if I end up letting it go for mid to high thirties, I will be happy.”

Since there are no scratches on the case it literally says, for obviousness it’s on the card i think without doubts. The problem of centering on the back is but I believe is within the limits of 75/25 in my opinion so it’s not a real problem that point.

Thanks a lot for this info.

If we had all 119 available to view, I’d be curious how many would get knocked on as being weak 10s.

Just for remember… This centering is 70/30 and for psa 10 os on the limit for a psa 10 on the back.

@joer His camera must have an old cert # :slightly_smiling_face:

@charizandrew, I have seen so many Charizard 10’s and there is definitely variation. This is the inherent struggle of collecting condition.

Also I haven’t seen a PSA 10 zard that could easily cross to BGS 10.

@smpratte you’re exactly right. I’d expect variation in price due to variation in the strength of the grade. The weak/damaged PSA 10 copy on eBay probably wouldn’t even sell for $20k. On the other hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if a strong copy hits a new record price. Therefore, we can estimate a range of say $20k-50k for this card.

PSA grade =/= price

PSA grade + buyer’s preference + market availability + tons of other factors = price

PSA 10s are (meant to be) cards with no damage.

BGS 10s are the best possible specimen of a card to exist.

You still can’t make an offer on the listing?

Seller might not know that it’s turned off.

His OBO is on. Unless you are blocked or something I couldn’t see how you couldn’t make an offer

With all that money he’s taking pics with a Nokia flip phone LOL

I see the Best Offer option working Gary.

@garyis2000, Yea I don’t know Gary. How can his camera be so bad? I use my iphone and can take decent pics, so I dont understand what he could possibly be using with such poor quality. He is obviously a legit seller from past sales, but simply poor at representing his items properly.

There’s also one available for 37k but seller has no pics of the back so it seems a little sketch

Did you read the description? You always should. He explains there’s problems like whitening on the back. He implies its overgraded.

Good call Gary, good call!

There’s now 4 copies available for sale with 2 owners indicating they’ll sell it lower than 40k, one not budging from a ridiculous price (not really for sale) and one open to offers but won’t ship outside Australia (case has a crack).

I wonder what would happy if a 5th strong one pops up. I’d expect it sell quickly and the current ones would stay available for a lot longer.

It’s really bizarre that he admits that yet explicitly refuses to provide a picture. Maybe he doesn’t actually have the card?
