PSA 10 1st ed Charizard $42.5k OBO

So who’s buying that PSA 10 1st ed Charizard for $42.5k OBO?

oh wow

ok.

ordered a few booster boxes off that guy, legit seller. Said he was thinking of PWCC a few months ago after I asked him about his collection and he indicated he had one. I guess he figured less fees if just does it himself.

Do you guys feel the old Cert # will help the sale or hurt it? I recently received a PSA 10 card with a very low Cert and it has tons of scratches on the holo definitely not something I would consider PSA 10. Looks like an 8-9 maybe. Makes me worried about low cert numbers and makes me think that PSA stepped up the game later on. But could just be the card I got. What are your thoughts?

You shouldn’t extrapolate to a global pattern from a single data point.

There is always speculation around cert numbers, and its just that, speculation. Some people will say recent certs are “weaker”. Yet some of the weakest grades I had on wotc cards were 10 years ago. Basically it’s always anecdotal. Even if someone meticulously gathers data, it will be negligible.

Tl;dr Buy the card not the grade (or cert #).

Scratchs a lot… For me this is on the card.

That is the exact reason I shy away from early labels, their grading standards back in the day seem very poor compared to now. I would never buy a graded Zard with an old label vs the new, especially if they were priced the same.

Also looks like that card has a indent or crease in the left hand side of the card, in the 2nd to last picture.

It’s really dangerous to say all early labels were graded more poorly than today. You’d need a monumental amount of evidence to back up that claim.

$40k is a solid price so I’m not surprised a few have shown up for sale. I’ll be curious to see how long this stays on the market.

I’m not seeing it.

I highlighted the area I was talking about above.

@kpod it’s most likely the reflection of the phone used to take the picture.

I’m not saying there are not definite 10s in the early grading days, but the grading standard consistently (from what I’ve seen with regards to whitening, and manufacturing defects) was much softer than it is today.

If that line looked like it went all the way across then I would say yes it’s camera glare, but I don’t think so. I have a Charizard that has a similar indent running vertically instead of horizontally.

It looks like a reflection to me. You can see the line extends onto the foil and also onto the case to the left.

I don’t like the centering on this one, but it is a good price right now. I just can’t get comfortable with the idea of spending that much money on a physical good though, even one with a good chance of appreciating. It makes me nervous to have “stuff” with that kind of value (not entirely rational I realize, and I mean no offense to anybody who does have a lot of money in cards).

But the big problem of this card that there are so many scratch… This card is a psa 8 max for me

Complete speculation from which you then generated a totally baseless conclusion.

If anyone actually wants to know if the card is scratched, how about just messaging the seller instead of speculating endlessly about nothing?

Let’s talk about the sex of angels then. A tread of this card is legit write this. But ok i don’t write nothing. Bye.

It’s scratching on the case, dude. I get scratches on cards fresh back from PSA…can’t imagine the scratches on a cert this old. Zero to do with actual card.
