By jacking their prices by 40% for an equivalent drop in functionality and options. Im about to head there now to post a couple things. All Io need is a tracking number on an envelope but im pretty sure the recent changes wont make it this simple.
Good point, should have included speed with my point of functionality. All this intertwined with us being at .65Usd has me seriously questioning the short term and possibly long term future of collecting in aus, especially when the import costs kick in. Mite need to think about alternate hobbies?
@snap Yeah it sucks, especially for a selling point of view on those lower priced cards, for a $4 sale you will net around $2.20 after fees etc. not worth it
This is a good question, but I don’t think my shipping choice (or lack of) was a deciding factor.
The item coming is in a tube and the first one I ordered a few months ago came within 2 weeks, same postage level and same cost ($16US for those playing along at home).
The real issue here, and I’m not being pessimistic, is that Australia Post really are fucking horrible and useless. Customs cleared this reasonably fast only to hand it to AusPost who decided “screw it, send it back”.
I can only imagine that some Saint in the USPS has looked at this and thought how BS it is and has sent it back. It’s proceeded past a joke now and AusPost want nothing to do with my feedback on their incompetence. They refuse to take my complaint stating this is an issue for USPS to chase up.
I’ve spoken to the distributor (the amazing team at Inked Gaming - really they are great for those interested) and they were shocked. Guess I’ll have to ask them to make a complaint because I want my money back on shipping. It’s ludicrous what they have done.
@omahanime This package has seen more of the world than me (if we allow the Canada tracking to be accurate) if not, on par. Sad really.
Anyone else have any issues with items scanning as received and maybe moving one or two steps closer to their destination only to never be scanned again? I used to have it happen maybe 1-2 times a year and always got lucky that they were low cost items and I just ate the cost and refunded the buyer. Well now it seems I have had to do it about 5-6 times the past month or two. my volumes are way up from years past, but has anyone else ever seen this? Very frustrating and concerning. I will try to take a few screengrabs of what I am talking about later.
I am talking like I get a message from a buyer two weeks after it was supposed to be delivered saying they don’t have it, and the last scan was at some random facility between us over 7-10 days ago.
Here is an example from back in November. Never delivered and never scanned again. Can I even claim this? Wasn’t insured, just regular first class mail. This case was $12.99 and I just had to refund the buyer.
@gottaketchumall - in Australia if it has tracking it has basic insurance. How that works I’m not sure but you might be able to get something.
So here is where I stand today;
This tale of cat and mouse gets better and better! It’s coming to a PO Box, so it could never possibly miss a delivery attempt… I don’t know if I should be laughing or crying…
No idea Brendan. But my local PO know how pissed I am about this package. I’m just grateful it doesn’t contain anything of real value to me and something I can replace easily.
I think I’m at the point where I’ll be requesting a refund on the postage from the seller, provided they can claim it through USPS.
I’ve long said if AusPost had any competition in Australia, they’d be bankrupt before they knew it.
I tried opening a claim as I have done before for priority mail items that were damaged. It won’t let me open was as it says it wasn’t insured. (Which it wasn’t).
I will have to speak to someone on the phone later today. I thought insurance was just for damage during shipment, but now I apparently need to insure in case my package falls off the face of the earth while clearly in their custody?! Man these guys are bums.
I hear insured packages rarely get lost, probably because USPS doesn’t want to cough up the dough if it does get lost/damaged in transit.
Really dumb how we have to pay extra just to ensure they do the job they were supposed to do anyways.
As for the not scanned issue you’re having, I have had it happen a couple times. Luckily the buyers were honest and didn’t ask for a refund. I think maybe USPS just sometimes forget to scan the package during the final route?
I kind of wonder whether or not in some of these cases if the buyers got the item. Only issue is I would lose the case with eBay due to non delivered status, I can’t claim anything with USPS and if I try to fight the buyer I’ll get a negative and still lose the money. Luckily the $12.99 item was the most expensive so far. Anything over $80 or so I do flat rate which at least is automatically insured for $50 so it caps my potential losses.
