Post Your Newly Discovered Repeating Errors

I’m not quite sure how it happened

Color layer misregistration covered earlier. The cool part is that this likely indicates that the artifact was on the actual image file of gastly and not a typical print defect.

So i bought a few to research and it turns out there are a few other peculiarities:

1: There’s a green dot on the right gold border of the artwork on most (if not all) specimen. I have seen a few cards with this green dot but no dots in the description.

  1. There are two green anomalies that show up on the gold description border on these specimen and they share this in common with first edition versions. It seems that all of this error variant have the same border as the first edition BUT the shadowless variants without the error tend not to have the same green strike through anomalies.

Id be willing to bet the ones tou cant see the dots have them partially covered by the text

So here’s one I’ve been meaning to talk about for a while. It’s a very under appreciated error in my opinion because corners are often the subject of grading and therefore “bad corners” leads to lower grades and worse value. But we accept miscuts and OC cards as “desirable” even though it screws the centering grade. Well this one goes out to “feathered corner” errors. A “feathered corner” error where something goes wrong in the corner cutting process and you are left with one side that is cut pretty much perfect and the other “feathered” with a perfectly cut white patch that spans the entire corner. They are quite rare but happen in most if not all sets. I happen to like these errors but i’m a weirdo so take that with a grain of salt. Would i buy a card with this error? Absolutely! I don’t usually find them in listings but I definitely collect them when i pull them.

Ill give you a hint, its got the Belgium error on the back. These 3 are all the same card but im trying to find a different one with the same obstruction error. Not going to be easy!

I just noticed this one, it seems to go all the way to 1st ed Base. It’s more of an original artwork error than print defect.

The artwork on lightning energy cards is cut off at the top. It’s much more visible on later 1999-2000 print runs.

Dark Charizard Holo Red Dot Error.

Overall the card is somewhat of a lighter shade also the Dark Charizard printing is (more) gray. But what is more interesting is the red dot on the leftside under the energy’s, with the area around the dot being completely white. Seems like a newly confirmed repeating WOTC error for Dark Charizard!

I know psychic and water energy suffered a similar issue in unlimited

They say that “all base set errors have already been discovered” welp: Shadowless Wartortle 42/102 just entered the chat. Some copies can be found with a set of black dashes across the art. I’m naming it “Black Dash Wartortle” obviously. The dashes seem to be in the same exact place on all the cards I’ve seen and i have not seen any first editions with the error but there may be some out there.

Since it’s that season in North America, i decided to share a particularly disturbing new vintage error I discovered in the past week. I’m calling it the Zombie Squirtle error because… well see for yourself. The error seems to afflict a number of copies of Unlimited Wartortle 42/102. I have three (from collecting other errors). I’ve provided a picture of the card (no the pink hickey is not usually present it’s just the reason I bought the card). I’ve also provided a picture of what the squirtle should look like. This error is likely due to color registration issues.

I have a SWSH039 Pikachu that appears to have red ink in the same spot.

Yes. That card is an error card ice berg. I’ve been working on a comprehensive detailed analysis of this one for months and it’s not ready yet.
