Today we’re going to examine an iconic uncorrected error card: Team Rocket set Dark Arbok Holo 2/82. I know, I know: they all say 23000 in the date but did you know this snake-in-the-grass was hiding a different repeating error in plain sight? It’s small but undeniable and exceedingly rare. I scoured hundreds of listings to get my hands on a few and bad quality photos don’t help at all. Yeah, I get it… it’s a few red dots but with how rare they are and the irony of a card that was “purposefully” misprinted having an actual misprint is what makes this card indespensible in my eyes. I cherish these tiny repeating errors because they are a story few have read about the card. These unique cobra pokemon are out there to be caught by patient and knowledgeable trainers. Happy questing !
More of a extremely minor printing defect, than an error I’d say
@Classyus You should make a megathread, and update it. :o
We all have our preferences. The fact that it’s repeating means it’s not “extremely minor” in my opinion. An extremely minor printing defect is a one-off dot.
I’m new here. I don’t know how to do that and I’m afraid it would be difficult to keep organized no? What are the advantages versus disadvantages?
The advantage would be that it keeps a number of similar topics organized, and people interested in the topic could easily follow along. I also would love to see this topic become a megathread! That way, others could contribute repeating errors to the discussion as well.
For example: Show Off Your Error Cards Megathread!
I’d like for people to be able to use it as a resource for asking for the card to be graded with said error. Is it going to be easily navigable for people researching repeating error cards?
If you create a new post for each new addition rather than editing them into the opening post you could also hyper link to the particular comment too. You can create a link in the OP for people to follow to that comment.
See post 1 of my collection thread for a similar idea perhaps. Hyperlinks to each individual post I find very easy to navigate.
I think it will be challenging getting these recognized for grading, as the markings here are quite small. If anything, I think it may be a “oh, neat!” for people who have the card.
Personally I know of a couple of repeating Slowpoke errors that I would be happy to contribute to a “repeating error” thread.
Wow! Nice collection! How do you take such amazing pictures without glare? Do you have a photobooth?
Fair enough. I do think these errors help to identify real cards in many instances. Obviously… nobody is gonna make a fake Dark arbok. It’s like $16.00 for a PSA 9 raw card but there’s more to come from much more valuable cards I assure you. I’ll make the mega thread then.
