Already pre-ordered Pysduck. All have such great artwork, but Pysduck face just makes it for me, plus the gengar and gastly. 10/10
Psyduck!!! 100% freaking komiya with the best.
His one of my favourite artists at Pokemon company⌠and has been around from some of the oldest days.
Really nice guy to meet as well, literally stands up, shakes your hand and will chat with you.
The way the cards are ordered (Psyduck - Eevee - Pikachu - Mimikyu - Rowlett) makes it look like they were all having a nice stroll along the promenade until Haunter and Gengar spoked Psyduck and the scream rippled through them all.
Now, whereâs that Futurama Fry meme?
My favorite by quality of art is Mimikyu. I think it looks perfect and the Pikachu silhouette is superb.
But my all-around winner is Pikachu. It conveys the theme sufficiently and pairs an iconic Pokemon with an iconic artwork. My biggest criticism of the others (except maybe Eevee) is that no one asks for those Pokemon. Itâs the same issue I had with the 2017 Easter release. You have a four card set where one is highly desirable and the other three are random at best.
My ideal version of this release would have actually been Pikachu on all five with the different artist interpretations. I know theyâd be similar, but I love the idea of a card series that makes the variation in art styles the sole focus of the prints.
All in all though, extremely happy with these cards. Cannot wait to pick them up.
I like the Pikachu one!
These promos are the definition of surrealism, I would have never imagined something like this to be released in Pokemon, or any hobby for that matter. Combining one of the most iconic pieces of art (Scream) with one of the most successful franchises in the world (Pokemon) is mind-blowing. A+ on the design. I like Psyduck the most.
You basically made this happen. The universe made it for you and us.
Nice.
Edit: The Mimikyu one for sure! It has a more pleasant feel to it.
Itâs close but I have to go with Mimikyu. The colors really pop for me.
Iâm not sure I can agree with that because Mimikyu and Rowlet are quite popular Pokemon. I see both of those having lots of fans (I love Rowlet myself). Psyduck is a random choice definitely, but the art is quality. But on the other hand I think many people feel nostalgia for Mistyâs Psyduck including myself.
My assessment comes through a couple avenues.
Plush sales at regionals: Kids buy a little Mimikyu, but prefer Zeraora, Alolan vulpix, Litten, and other modern Pokemon, as well as Pikachu and old legendaries/starters.
Promos/cards: Interest in Mimikyu promos has been weak. The GX never sold well as a sealed product or a single save a couple sales of PSA 10 copies that still didnât earn much over cost. Rowlet had an amazing artwork come out in the Ash vs Team Rocket Deck Kit that doesnât get much attention. Porbably in my top 50 card arts of all time, so Iâve got love for it, but it doesnât make the cut for iconic for me.
I agree that theyâre not gorebyss-level random, and Iâd consider them C-tier Pokemon by interest level, but to me at least, the scream promos feel like a higher level of print and I would have preferred some more iconic depictions.
tl;dr I make that statement in a context. I donât hate rowlet and I can see some interest in Mimikyu, but I donât consider them fitting choices for this release.
I think psyduck was chosen for his constant headache. He has been doing the scream pose this whole time! *cue xfiles theme

The frequency of psyduck appearances, especially in worldâs art, makes me seriously wonder if someone very high up in the company has psyduck as favorite Pokemon.
