Politoed666's PSA returns: MASSSIVE UPDATE 7/22/21

On the bright side, PSA returning your cards in 15 years has the benefit of you not getting tempted into selling your cards for the next 15 years

Congrats on your first return and see ya in 15 years, lol.

Hey all! As promised, here is the next update several months later. This is my TRUE first ever PSA submission (although I got the cards in the OP back first, they were Express returns from a later submission). I believe I sent this one in via Ludkins at some point in early August of 2020, so about a six month turnaround time.

Overall, I’m very happy with the results. There’s nothing insanely valuable in here, but the grades are good. Out of 30 cards, I scored eleven 10s, thirteen 9s, five 8s, and one 6 (which I will probably crack). I’m mildly disappointed that the only VS holo to score a 10 was the Rocket’s Suicune… I pulled all four (the dogs and the Umbreon) from packs I opened myself years ago. I was banking for a 9 or a 10 on the Umbreon, but I see a little wear in one corner that I missed, so I don’t feel robbed. Also slightly bummed that none of the 1st Ed WOTC holos got 10s, since they looked flawless to my eye. But I guess I can’t complain, since my understanding is that there are very few even NM raw WOTC holos left out there. Worth noting that I don’t really care that the CG Charizard got a 6, since I knew it wasn’t perfect when I submitted it but figured I’d see if I could get lucky.

As far as my biggest wins go, I’m very excited that the Aquapolis Zapdos pulled a 9. Like the CG Charizard, I stuck it in there on a whim, but didn’t expect it to pull higher than a 7 or 8. This bodes well for other E-Series holos in similar condition I have already submitted or plan to submit in the future. Also very excited about the Japanese Charizard G Lv.X, Ho-Oh ex, Walrein ex, and Meganium ex all pulling 10s.

Life is good! Stay tuned for the final return in a month or so. Lots of heavy hitters in there (2004 Nationals Charizard, 8 Shadowless holos, and much more).

Wait, there are cards that get returned?

Nice grades, that is some great eye candy! And congratz on actually getting them back.

Yeah, that’s the real win, isn’t it? My live document has been stuck on “research and ID” since, like, mid-November… So don’t give up hope!

Wow! Nice man!

What service level were these sent in at?

Bulk, actually (at least, 99% sure it was bulk through Ludkins). I have absolutely no idea how PSA prioritizes their returns… It would stand to reason that they just work through bulk submissions in the order that they are received, but that’s evidently not the case. It seems I lucked out a bit, even though a six month turnaround time is still objectively pretty poor IMO, context aside.

You sure it was bulk? There are folks here that sent cards almost a full year ago that haven’t gotten their bulk sub back. I imagine there is some variance in order returns, but a 4-5 month difference is hard for me to believe.

Beautiful returns!! I love the Japanese ex PSA 10s, don’t see many people collecting those. That Ho-Oh is huge, congratulations!

Those cards look really nice, congratulations! I have a bunch of basketball cards at PSA (was into basketball card flipping before I got into collecting Pokemon), so hoping to get those back soon. Then I can sell them and buy more Pokemon! :sunglasses:

@politoed666

I know you’re getting bombarded with questions here, so my bad, but I have a couple for you lol.

Did your sub jump right from Research & ID to getting shipped out to you? In other words, did it skip some steps in the document? Also, did you get hit with any upcharges for sending those cards in through bulk?

Yeah, I just double checked my live doc from Ludkins and the last update is Research & ID on November 13… Nothing since then. I didn’t get hit with any upcharges for the 30 cards I just posted, but I did get upcharges for the cards in the original post, of course haha.

Remember that Ludkins documents are no longer being updated, they have switched entirely to their web-based tracking system (at least if you’re using the US branch, can’t speak to the UK branch). If you are solely tracking your existing orders by the google docs, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Nah I wasn’t sure if he meant the Google Doc or the new system they have.

Wow, I actually didn’t know this. That explains a lot. Probably got an e-mail about it somewhere along the line that I just missed.

I’m as sure as I can be; my recollection is that I paid in the vicinity of $10/card. However, I know you’re correct that some people have been waiting far longer (which obviously doesn’t make any sense, unless PSA’s prioritization is totally arbitrary), so I shot Ludkins an e-mail to see if they have a firm record.

Yeah, I’m elated about those, the Ho-Oh in particular. I’m a huge fan of exs in general, but most of my English ones are probably a little too dinged up to pull a 9 or a 10. Given that it was my first submission, I generally included only cards that I thought looked VERY mint haha.

I still have yet to get my bulk subs I sent in May and June 2020.
