Reading about a Pokémon’s backstory has always been intriguing. From Mimikyu wanting to gain the same love and affection as Pikachu to a Cubone who may or may not be related to a Kangaskhan; there are plenty of stories out there.
What is some Pokémon lore that you find interesting?
One of my favorites I read in recent days was how Bagon’s dream was that it always wanted to fly. Low and behold it later evolves into Salamence and has it come true, but in general I found that very heartwarming.
Also Togetic being a pokemon who tends to appear around very kind people and then showering them with happiness was another that i always found touching. Theres some really great ones out there, but i cant think of many aside from these
“It happened one morning - a boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into KADABRA.”
People evolving into Pokemon! The only other Pokemon I know of that comes from a human is Yamask. It’s the weird stuff like this that really sticks with me.
Hypno. Pokédex: “It carries a pendulum-like device. There once was an incident in which it took away a child it hypnotized.” One can only imagine what happened next, but damn…
A kid in our local league (he’s 17 now) is absolutely terrified of hypno. When he gets too rowdy, just show him a hypno picture, and he just shuts down. Fun times.
This also reminds me of Drifloon, “It is whispered that any child who mistakes Drifloon for a balloon and holds on to it could wind up missing” in addition another entry reads, “A Pokémon formed by the spirits of people and Pokémon. It loves damp, humid seasons”. So creepy!
Due to recent bad publicity my Hypno avatar will no longer be hypnotizing the members of Efour. Instead, Butch and Cassidy’s Drowzee will be distracting you all with dance moves while an amplified signal of disobedience is broadcast via antenna from Drowzee’s head to all users on the forum. Your Pokemon will disobey you and end up serving The Boss. Sorry, not sorry. Oh and Officer Jenny will be of little help so don’t even try it.
It’s a bit mild but something about Dewpider lore sticks out to me. Once Dewpiders mature, they are expected to leave their home pond in order to search for and claim another pond as their own. There they would create a new nest and the cycle continues. So every pond in the Pokemon universe should/will have a Dewpider taking care of it and I guess I just find that neat.
