Pokemon in 2015 a retrospective

So if we think about last year what happened on the Pokemon scene that was notable/different?

I’ll share that no rarity cards took a big limelight last year with a few high dollar sales for PSA 10 copies, year of the first GEM MINT no rarity?

Interested in other notable events that you can think of! Any firsts in the hobby or things you noticed

Yep that was crazy, also the Korean Unlimited base set cards really took off, including those packs from the seller in Australia

First PSA 10 set for japanese Neo 3/4 Shinings? I think that’s really big milestone considering the card quality/availability.

That’s a good one, when you see one of these cards in PSA 10 you do a double take so the full set is insane!

I would say 2015 was the year of the Gyarados, it brought forth 18 new Gyarados cards from English and Japanese sets, including the first EX revival in 11 years since Flight of Legends in 2004

The release of the art academy winnner cards :stuck_out_tongue:?

Everyone finally realized that Japanese DP/Pt era shiny cards are the pinnacle of Pokemon TCG collecting.

For real though, I think the BGS 10 Zard selling for over 10k was a pretty big deal. Chinese Legend maker popping up was neat too.

There was major hype over these cards and a lot of involvement from this community specifically. I’d say this is one of the top things that gained our attention.

This seemed to fly completely under the radar but I am pretty sure that 2015 saw the first PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator.

I’m not showing off for this one - just thought it was a cool development for my own collection. The Chinese EX Legend Maker set was unearthed fully, and even graded. Maybe not notable for most, but it was for me!
