The other day I was just looking through charizard pop reports from all major sets, and got to plasma storm. Plasma storm charizard has a crazy low 10 to overall ratio and was curious what you guys felt about the card? Compared to a card like a skyridge charizard holo that has a much higher 10 to overall grade ratio, do you think it will ALWAYS yield a higher premium just because it’s skyridge? You can say i’m still new to hardcore collecting since I started about 3 years ago, so I was just looking at what you guys thought. Thanks!
You can’t really compare an original era WOTC skyridge Charizard to a black and white plasma storm Charizard.
A wise man once said “The older, the rarer, the minter, the better!”
This secret rare has always looked leaps and bounds better than the Gold Star Charizard imo… doesn’t answer your question, but I do believe the card is worth keeping an eye on in the future.
Exactly. I was deciding on what my next high end goal would be and I really love the way the plasma storm charizard looks, it was difficult to pull/grade, which is great. But my concern is that if it’s even worth trying to go for it when other cards have a greater possibility of rising in value overtime comparatively.
Right, I understand that you can’t really compare it to a wotc set, but I was just so surprised to see the pop report for skyridge charizard compared to the plasma storm charizard for example. The skyridge zard literally has more 10’s than 9’s lol
The plasma zard is a very difficult card to grade. That card was consistently off-centered and whitening was much more prevalent in that era. I graded around 25-30 copies and only 1 earned a 10.
This is what makes this card so appealing to me in terms of getting a psa 10 copy of it.
I have never seen a copy of this charizard that wasnt off center.
Even the PSA 10 listings on eBay look a little off center.
Yeah, here is quick google search of a good one.
