Plasma Storm VS Gold Star Charizard

Do you guys think that Plasma storm charizard will reach the status (price wise) of Gold star one day?

Personally, I feel that the Plasma storm artwork are much better than the Gold star(Charizard wise). The Gold star Gyarados artwork are insane though.

I’d guess it wouldn’t which is too bad since I have more of them:(

Hi Mr Gary, is it because the rest of the cards in that set are less desirable to collect?

How much will you be selling for one (Psa 10) if you are selling?

Regards

As is a common saying here, the older, the minter, the rarer, the better. Which (on a basic level) means you can generate a comparison of two cards and make an educated price guess.

Older: Charizard Gold Star by far.

Minter: Assuming you’re talking about a PSA-set price point (namely 10), mintiness can’t really be a factor. However difficulty of obtaining a mint one can be. Plasma Storm quality issues are rampant, but you’ve still got 66 10s. Charizard GS is at 69 10s. I’d call it even.

Rarer: Again, Charizard GS by far. Age, print run size, and more mean that there are far less Charizard GS out there.

Final Score: Charizard GS, 2-0-1.

Plasma Zard is next in line to join the Zard giants. Beautiful card.

They are both great cards but Gold Star hands down.

However, I think Plasma Zard has a great future.

I’m a bigger fan of the ex dragon SR Charizard art than the plasma storm SR. Though I’m unsure what kind of growth either would see. The pop reports are completely different. Seems to be equal amounts of 10’s but waaay more plasma storm charizards graded.

I’m also not aware if there were different pull rates between the two, though I imagine there are.

I personally love the card but i cant quite see it going to what the prices for the gs any time soon if ever. Its perceived as a hard grade, and it definitely is, but as someone already pointed out there are similar amounts of 10s for both. I think it really comes down to the print numbers to be honest.

If I was able to match my spending pre-mortgage I’d buy all the plasma 10s I could get my hands on.

The issue with PSA 10 plasma charizards is that there are some 10’s out there that slipped through the cracks imo and really shouldn’t be 10’s with the terrible centering issue that plagued that card. You can find multiple that are still bottom heavy and yet still received a 10, which kind of ruins the prestige of a 10 grade even with it being difficult to grade.

The majority of Pokemon collectors are lacking a true grasp of grading metrics because the majority of Pokemon collectors are extremely casual collectors.

They just want the 10 to be a 10 and will buy the grade over the card.

Until this changes people will continue to accept PSA’s oversight.

I often see 10s that looks like a 9s to me. Happens to all cards even yugioh as well.

In short no. (Imo)
