Hey there, n00b to the forum here. I currently own a GS Zard in PSA 9, and was looking for a PS Zard in PSA 10. I was offered a trade + $300 on my end. I was just looking for some opinions, as I’m having a hard time making my mind.
I’m a Shiny hunter, and I’m targeting shiny zard variants atm. I know that the PS zard is a pain to get a 10 due to centering issues, and therefore the low pop in existence. But at the same time, you could easily get a plasma storm booster for $50, while Ex DF go for over $200.
I’d appreciate some insight on your behalf, regarding pull rates on both cards, prices going forward, etc.
I think the pull rates are actually quite similar for these cards. I would approximate 1 Charizard per case. They are both great cards, but if you already have the GS in 10, I would definitely consider getting the PS 10 for the collection
Yeah I know, but I’m worried the Plasma Zard is being over valued at around $2500, as I don’t know much about the set as a whole. The last legit sold I know of was a private one for $1800, 2-3 weeks ago.
A few of the plasma storm charizard psa 10s I’ve seen on eBay over the years I thought didn’t deserve the 10 based off centering. It is super tough finding this card perfectly centered.
They don’t post any pictures of the backs. One person purchased about 5+ copies of the same PSA 10s of a Lv X card. All of them were full of whitening.
I don’t know. A while back they send in tons of BW and XY era cards that got PSA 10. Huge submissions where they got multiple PSA 10s of BW era FAs and SRs in PSA 10. I graded for 4 years and most of that was during the time those cards were fresh. it was incredibly difficult to get PSA 10s. Some of CardRush’s returns literally doubled the PSA 10 population. Those cards are notorious for whitening, chipping, texture pattern appearing on the back and centering issues. I have no idea how that happened.
Buy what you want. If you want both at some point, then I suggest you go with the more expensive one first or the one that is most likely to rise in price. I feel like that would be the Gold Star considering the popularity of the Ex series and that Gold Stars are getting harder to come by.
Off topic, but the worst-graded 9 in my collection came from card rush inc. same thing no picture of the back. New cert too. It’s off by at least one grade, maybe two on a bad day and it was an expensive card.
Yeah CardRushInc has some weird prices and cards for sell, and no back picture is definitely strange.
I’m eager to get the Plasma Zard in 10, but I believe that a valuation of $2.5k is a bit high, having one recently sold for $2k (2 days ago, just confirmed with buyer).
I’m sorry to hear that. I definitely hesitate in buying anything from them. It’s just hard to imagine one person getting so many PSA 10s on cards that are so hard to grade. They doubled the PSA 10 population haha.
I hate to say it, but it happens. shame on us if we continue to buy from him and help propagate it. Sadly, there can be a dark underbelly sometimes with large dealers and grading companies. Beckett and PSA. I had an incredibly shady set of experiences in MtG with a large, very well known company when it came to a sudden explosion of Pristine BGS 10s on Alpha cards that happened over a very short time span in 2014/2015 and has never been seen before or since in that hobby. Let’s just say when I read about the big altered card drama with baseball cards I was not the least bit surprised and actually felt vindicated
That is incredibly shady!!! After reading that, why would you trust Beckett to grade your cards.
I’m not sure how this has affected the amount of people grading with PSA.
@jonandek It is really shady. I’ve gotten a few low pop PSA 10s off of him and all of them made me start to question what a PSA 10 even is due to some pronounced flaws on the back. Sadly we might never get closure on these thoughts unless card grading starts to get monitored more closely
@hisoka107 It is hard to trust any grading company for me. Every time I see pictures of PSA returns where their workers have damaged the cards(and take no responsibility) it makes me cringe. Then on the other hand, Beckett has this scandal which makes the black label/BGS 10 invalid to me. At this point though I need to choose a company to grade my cards before prices get out of hand lol
