I recently bought a PCA graded 10 card, and upon arrival I realized the card itself had some damage on the corner in front, which is definitely not a 10. I’m just wondering if PCA has any recourse to this, or am totally out of luck here
I don’t see any mention of a grade guarantee on their website. Your best bet is likely to reach out to customer service.
It might be useful to share pictures of damage. They aren’t a bogus grading company but I don’t think PCA scale perfectly overlaps with PSA.
I actually rate PCA as a legit EU grading company, and have used them a few times in the past. Their 10 grades are usually pretty strong so it likely is a misgrade.
Definitely contact them.
Why did you choose to use PCA in the past?
No EU grading hubs from the USA companies at the time. For certain french cards they sell better in Europe as pretty well established.
Thanks. You’re right, the corner is absolutely destroyed, and definitely you should try reaching out to PCA. Fingers crossed for you
Thanks man. I guess this also taught me a lesson to not trust grades blindly and look closely at the card instead
Beware: the cases of PCA absolutely suck and I have opened them with my bare hands with no effort at all. You can find videos online of people opening them with their hands as well. They might have changed the casing since then.
I don’t want to scare you but the card could have been swapped pretty easily. As far as grading goes with PCA, I had three cards which received the PCA 10+ grade and got them all regraded as a PSA 10.
Definitely a concern especially as it’s a poncho.
@thejohn can you take more photos of the case edges from the sides?
Please also write down the cert number as you have it blocked out.
Is the damage present on the PCA scan of the card?
Not a good idea to buy with PCA or some obscure grading company, especially for a card like this. Rawin binder, PSA, BGS, or another established grading company is the only way. IMHO
Edges of the slab is clean and there’s no sign of forced entry overall - I’ve checked out the videos and opening the cases do leave obvious marks on the edge clasps. Also took a microscope to the card itself and am pretty sure the card is legit too, not replaced with a sticker or fake card. Funny thing is the card is indeed almost flawless/PSA10 worthy aside from that botched corner.
I’d prefer to see what PCA says first before deciding if I should show the card number, in case I mess up any chances of getting any recourse.
Unfortunately it was probably graded before PCA had scans on their site. The cert shows on the site, but there’s no visual ![]()
