I bought a card damaged by PSA

Hello e4!

Last week i purchased a card with an older cert number.
The card (PSA 10) at first glance looked to be fair, maybe a few minor white spots that would cause it nowadays not warrant the 10 but nothing i couldn’t live with.

Today i went to make some scans of said card and noticed there was quite the gap between the card and the holder spot.
First i thought maybe the card was tampered with and was cut/shaved off.
But looking a little closer i noticed PSA has clearly clamped the card on top of the lifted edges that are supposed to hold the card in place.

I’m not sure how to add pictures, but i’ll happily provide some.

The card in question is worth around $5000 and is extremely low pop.
So i’m a bit flustered on how to go about this.
My first thought was contacting PSA themselves, as the seller i bought it from had no idea either.
But on second thought after hearing the horror story Jarchomp_Collectibles just went through, i was curious on how you guys would go about this.

Should i contact PSA looking for a solution, or what is wisdom in this case.

Hope to hear from yall!

Kind regards,
UngradedBenjamin

Send it in to PSA via their Grade Guarantee.

Appreciate the reply.
I’m just a bit hesitant and unsure because im afraid they’re gonna brush me off saying something like; this card shouldn’t of gotten a 10 in the first place, we’ll refund you the difference of a PSA 9 & what it should get now with the damage we’ve caused.

That wouldn’t make sense because the grade guarantee applies to the listed grade on the label. All that matters is whether the card merits the 10 grade or not, which based on the pictures it clearly doesn’t.

Even if PSA could distinguish between damage caused by encapsulation and damage not caused by encapsulation, they still gave the card a 10 and are responsible for that under the guarantee.

Sorry you are dealing with this, at least with a recent purchase you should be able to get a substantial refund. Hope you can get another copy soon!

Appreciate that, that gives a little peace of mind.
I’ll reach out to them.
