its helpful to reach out to members you know have opened boxes of rare sets in the past
i was just recently told that there are super heavy packs in base set. the darker art packs start at around 21.1g and the heavies are more on the spectrum of 21.5gā¦
so maybe some of the other sets also have this phenomenon..
i think iāve seen some ex packs being several grams lighter than the 17.5s quoted hereā¦
Yeah, I think it happens in a lot of sets. It happens for Holon Phantoms where there are two sorts of packs: ones where 16.2g is light and 16.5g is heavy, and ones where 17.3g is light and 17.6g is heavy. Itās kind of crazy; Iām not sure what causes the difference. Maybe another ink layer or a different sort of foil being used for the pack? But Iāve seen Holon Phantoms packs that are also like 16.8g, which makes it unclear whether or not itās super heavy or super light lol.
spoke with tca and he told me a box of deoxys had heavies in the 18g range, thats why this spreadsheet is so important

It appears that legend maker and deoxys have this phenomenon as well, probably many other gold star sets too but we just dont have the info yet.

@pokecollectoramy, @zorloth, @modestmudkip, do any of you own dragon frontiers? If so what do they weigh? Found a 16.92 pack for cheap but am unsure if heavy

I havenāt opened many EX series, but Iāve opened a lot of Base through TR. I weighed every one but was dumb and never kept the data. I just recently started trying to keep it and had a few I had pictures of the weights and pulls. I see a few mentioning fossil weights so Iāll throw mine at the thread.

Thank you for the data! Adding it the spreadsheet right now. Just a quick clarification: all of these packs were short-stem? The only reason why I ask is because 21.22, 21.24g, and 21.25g are the highest weight light packs Iāve seen so far, so I just want to make sure.
The lightest packs were all heavy? Sheesh this sucks lol

Oh, sorry, forgot to clarify. Yeah, every pack was short stem.
On the 3 that were 21.22g - 21.25, they were all purchased from the same person. I grabbed the 21.24 first, it was in the middle. Pulled that non holo, went to the 21.25 and that was also a non holo. So I did the dumb thing and grabbed the last one and that one was a non holo. I pretty much safely assumed the other 3 left in the same weight range were also non holo and just sold them as light packs. It was definitly new to me to see a 21.20g+ pack be light, but I did reach out with the question to Rusty and he said while he hasnāt personally seen it, heās heard of some fossil packs being light that were definitely up there in weight. Must have just been the print run, and I was lucky enough to find itā¦lol.

I actually opened the 20.98g pack 2 nights ago. I hadnāt opened anything in such a long time, and my heavy pack collection is slacking at the moment. So I grabbed one that was borderline to give it a shot and was very suprised to see the Aerodactyl.
