its ok I got shafted anyways, I have to refund him some money. I thought they were heavy so at least we gained data I guess. Although the crystal nidoking he got from my aquapolis got a 9.5!
It just shows how unpredictable weighing is. I was 90% sure my Holon Phantoms pack would have a holo and 90% sure my Sandstorm pack wouldnât have a holo. But I was wrong for both packs lol. Itâs an imperfect science. But as we gather more and more data, hopefully we can eventually make these judgments more accurately. Itâs crazy how little information is out there.
i think with the reverse holos mixed in there, the pack science might be a bit less clear on heavy vs light to help determine if there is a holo in there? also, do we consider rev holos as legit holos?
I donât think the reverse holos make it any less clear on a set-by-set basis. Remember, each pack has a reverse holo. So if all reverse holos from a given set weigh the same, then it doesnât make a difference. But youâre correct that it could make comparisons between sets more murky. The reverse holo styles changed constantly during the EX-era, so it seems unlikely that reverse holos from, say, TMTA, weigh the same as reverse holos from FRLG.
And it depends what you mean by âlegit holo.â Every pack has one reverse holo â the only thing that varies is which card the reverse holo is of. I donât view them as holos in the same way as normal holos, no. But there are some sets where reverse holo versions of holo rares are actually much more expensive than the normal holo versions. A lot of that comes down to which reverse holo patterns people like. Personally, I love the reverse holo patterns in Hidden Legends and FRLG. They make the cards look like regular holos. And I also love the reverse holo patterns in sets like Emerald and Unseen Forces, where the reverse holos have a 3d effect. But Iâm not nearly as fond of the reverse holos in the early EX-series sets (Ruby through TMTA). My preferences happen to line up with popular preference, and the prices reflect this. So the reverses from certain sets are more like holos in terms of the demand for them, and the reverses from other sets are closer to non-holos in terms of the demand for them. There are even some instances in the first four EX series sets where the non-holo version of a card is more expensive than the reverse holo version.
Congrats on the pulls although unlcuky on that Holon Phantoms pack, It didnât take you long to cave in and open
Also thanks for opening and sharing your data
Iâll leave this video tcagaming made about pack weights here for anyone interested, It explains why pack weighing can be so unpredictable.
Thanks! I agree. And yes, Iâve seen that video. Itâs an imperfect science. But I do feel that if a large enough sample size of data is gathered, it can be made less imperfect.
Unless there were weight differences between print runs like there were of Holon Phantoms. My 17.45g pack was light, but there are 16.5g packs that are heavy. So itâs possible that 17.2g could be on the heavy end of a light print run â especially since there are some Legend Maker packs Iâve seen in the 16.8g range.
Wow. Early ex-series packs are so close, weight-wise. Assuming this was the PokeRev one, I opened one from the same box that was 17.45g and it was light (I have to add that to the sheet also)
Also: is the data on the sheet for Hidden Legends accurate? It shows a 17.4g pack being heavy and a 17.6g being light â where is that info from?
