psa is so hard now, cgc probably was the right choice, if you ever want to resub just send to psa in the cgc case and do the āonly crack if a 10ā thing
Also, the buyer weighed the pack at 17.43g, sent me a message questioning the weight, but opened the pack and got the Gardevoir before I can reply to his question, lol.
@nostalgiaoldbird , damn! thatās a sweet pull. Might be the best pull in the set.
So now it seems pretty clear that RS/SS/DR all had print runs of varying weights. A 17.43g pack being heavy and a 17.58g pack being light is pretty stark. And Iāve seen 17.3x SS packs with holos in them. Pretty all over the place.
One issue is that many peopleās scale hasnāt been calibrated for a long time. Iām relatively confident in my weights as I periodically recalibrate my scale. So itās a bit hard to tell if itās due to varying print runs or imprecise scales.
Very true. In this case, Iāll take your number rather than the buyerās number.
Still, some of the difference are so great that they canāt be due to imprecise scales. Like a 17.3x pack having a holo while a 17.58 pack doesnāt.
Another factor that could explain the weight differential is humidity differences. Packs arenāt airtight ā they have those tiny holes on the back. So if theyāre stored in a high-humidity environment, that could easily result in heavier cards ā but how much heavier I donāt know. Someone should do an experiment with that!
Some of the TRR trainers are pretty pricey, believe it or not! So you might have done decently on the reverse. But my condolences to your formerly-sealed TRR pack. Thank you for your contribution!
I just opened 2 unseen forces packs! Both were from different sellers so maybe this explains the weird difference. The heavy pack was 16.9g (forretress holo) whilst the light pack was 17.1g. I think Zorloth mentioned this is due to different print runs. Seems like weighing ex packs is a nightmare! Little consistency. This isnāt an issue if all the packs are from the same box of course.
