Overgraded Card Thread

There are some weird indents/shadowing on the back too.

Honestly kinda wild PSA didn’t catch that from the holo scratches alone. Most of the “cleaned” cards are terrible quality to begin with and the scratches are always still present after.

How this happened I don’t know but it’s one of my coolest items I’ve ever owned.

You should post that on the errors thread! People will want to see that texture shift. Very cool it got a 10! Show Off Your Error Cards Megathread! - #1850 by CR4WD4UNT

Texture shift seems like it wouldn’t affect card condition, so def reasonable to see 10s

Did you post this card because of the silvering on the left and bottom? I think this is not considered damage, as Jungle and Fossil cards have this straight out of the booster. Apparently they were printed at a time where cutting the cards was not optimal.
Apart from that, the card looks very nice to me (assuming tehre are no huge holo scratches which i cant see)

I hear that. The chipping on the left side of that card, even if pack fresh and right out of a booster, is too much for a 9 imo. (Even for Jungle.) Especially when one like this, is considered a 7.

Thanks for providing scans of both the front and back!

I have a complete Unlimited Jungle and Fossil holo set in PSA 9, and I’d say roughly 30–50% of the cards show noticeable silvering, similar to yours. When I first started buying these, that threw me off too, so I looked into it. If I remember correctly, this is widely considered a factory cutting artifact, and because of that it typically doesn’t have a major impact on the grade.

One interesting detail is that this kind of silvering is usuallyonly visible from the front, which seems to be related to how the cards were cut.

Also, the Snorlax you showed looks strong overall: nice corners, no edge whitening, and a clean holo. Some of my Jungle PSA 9s have silvering and additional issues like edge whitening, minor corner dings, or light surface scratches. So I would say yours compares very well.

Lately I’ve been looking to pick up more Fossil cards, and based on enlarged PSA 9 scans on eBay, I’m seeing a similar proportion, around 30–50% with visible silvering as well.

While I’m generally trying to avoid silvering when possible, I’d still buy a really strong copy if everything else is excellent, especially the holo surface and color saturation. For me, the other parameters are more important. But I guess everyone has different priorities with collecting

I always wondered why I would see 9s and sometimes 10s with silvering. Very interesting!
