OldSkoolPokemon WotC Collection - Gold-Strip Theme Display

Serious question:
Why do some sheets have and some don’t have that purple control sticker on them?

WotC-Era Loose Cards:

Personally, I prefer loose cards, sleeves, pages, binders… over PSA Graded Cards. Being the type of collector that I am; going after PSA Graded Cards would cost me a FORTUNE! Even though I store my cards in pages / binders, I am still very picky when it comes to condition of my collection. I consider everything within my collection NM/M Condition (with a few exceptions).

Everything that doesn’t fit into my “main-stream” binder collection (Shining, Error, and other “Cool” Cards) is placed into an Ultra-Pro Holder (Screw-Down Type). Here are a few of my favorite cards:

Neo Revelation Shinings:

Neo Destiny Shining Set(s) are near completed; however, I decided to only show-case “set cards” as the set is completed - so you’ll just have to wait to see those cards! Haha

Ghost “1st Ed.” Base Set Pikachu

"No Damage" Shadowless Base Set Ninetales (E.X. / NM Condition):

No “Stage” Unl. Base Set Blastoise:

Non-Holo Unl. Team Rocket Set Dark Dragonite 5/82:

No Symbol Jungle Set - All 16 Cards:

I thought these two cards were pretty cool. I purchased these cards intact from two different people - as part of a larger “bulk” collection. After examining the cards for a minute, I noticed that the holo-foil was peeling - so I peeled the holo-foil completely off of each card. Later found-out that this is pretty simple to do; but I still think they’re really cool!

Awesome! The booster packs are somewhat a pain to slide into the holders; however, they look so much better!

For the booster packs, I just keep those within multiple shoe-box sized plastic bins. For the blister packs, I actually purchased a display case at a local yard-sale - cleaned that up really nice and have that in my eBay Office. All of my blister packs and theme deck cases are displayed in there - along with a few other items that I’ve yet to photograph. I will upload a picture of that at some point.

I have attempted doing some research into those purple stickers; however, I was unable to come-up with any explanation as to why these sheets have those stickers and what they mean (if anything). I have some close-up images of the stickers and a few additional pictures of those Neo Discovery Sheets here:

Man, it’s been awhile since I’ve updated this! Sorry E4 Friends! Haha

I mostly stick with I.G. right now for show-casing my collection - it’s a lot easier to upload pictures over there. However, I just had to show-off my latest and greatest purchase! I started-out with a binder-copy of the No Damage Ninetales - sent that off to be graded with my C.C. Membership Voucher and it came-back PSA 7. Then, I stumbled-upon a few eBay Listings for PSA Graded No Damage Ninetales (PSA 6 and 4) which I scoop-up thinking I’d attempt a PSA 1-9 Set. After reaching-out to @gemmintpokemon about his PSA 8 No Damage Ninetales, I learned that he had a few extra copies that he was holding-out on! I ended-up picking-up most of his No Damage Ninetales (2x PSA 8, PSA 7, 6, and 5).

Now it’s turned into a hunt for as many No Damage Ninetales as I can possibly find! Haha

What are those 7s and 8s going for?

That’s a tough question since there’s a really limited sales-history to go off. I did purchase one of my PSA 6 Copies via eBay Auction about a month ago for $500.00 - although, I do think that auction was a bit suspicious towards the end, I’m using that figure as a “base-line”. Here’s my thoughts in-terms of pricing for these cards - would love to hear what people think of my valuation on everything!

PSA 4 = $250.00 to $300.00
PSA 5 = $300.00 to $350.00
PSA 6 = $400.00 to $450.00
PSA 7 = $650.00 to $750.00
PSA 8 = $800.00 to $900.00

I’ve been slowly collecting WotC-Era Theme Deck Display Cases for awhile now; my collection really blew-up back in November when Rusty auctioned-off his Theme Deck Display Collection - that was an expensive month for me… Haha

This whole collection started-out as a small “side-project” to purchase the 2-Player Starter Deck Display Case - that was supposed to be the beginning and end of this collection. Immediately after purchasing that; my goal quickly changed to owning one of each English Unlimited WotC-Era (No Shadowless or “Red-Logo” Variants) Display Case - and now I’m just down to those few that literally NEVER become available (Neo Genesis, Legendary Collection, and the eSeries). That was until I saw Rusty’s Gold-Strip Display Case… After seeing his available for-sale, I had to have it! Unfortunately, even after bugging him for two months via e-mail, we were unable to reach an agreement - and he decided to place that one back into his collection. Now, fast-forward a few months, a second Gold-Strip Display Case actually becomes available on eBay!!! However, the seller was asking way more than I wanted to spend / could afford ($7,500.00) - so I didn’t pay much attention to the listing. A few weeks / month goes by and the listing is still active with very little interest, so I decide to reach-out to the seller in-hopes to gauge where he is at in-terms of pricing - what do I have to loose?

To make a long-story short, it was still pretty expensive - actually had to break-apart my PSA 8 1st Ed. Base Holo Set and sell the Charizard. But, I was able to purchase the Display Case!!! I figured I’ll be able to easily purchase another PSA 8 Charizard - I’ll probably have to pay more than what mine sold for; however, I’d rather do that than gamble on seeing another one of these Gold-Strip Display Cases!
