Hello! I’m currently in Brazil for vacation and I took the opportunity to buy some TCG products in some local toy stores. I bought a loose pack of Phantasmal Flames alongside some blisters.
I don’t know much about Portuguese packs, and I don’t know card set lists by memory, so at first I didn’t think much when I opened the loose pack. However when I noticed the Play Pokemon stamp in the Mega Manectric EX and the mismatched code sets I started wondering what was up. Does anybody, uh, know if this was a resealed pack or some Portuguese only oddity? Or if I’m fully ignorant and this is something even more common. I can’t find the stamped Mega Manectric anywhere online either. Any info is appreciated!
Additional questions: What’s the “pack composition” for Portuguese Phantasmal? I opened one of the blisters and only one out of the three packs had an energy card. Sorry if some of these questions are basic, I’m generally new to the TCG in general!
It’s not uncommon for PT packs to have random shenanigans like this. Copag has been criticised since taking on Pokemon in the DP era for various mountains of quality and print issues. This just does not surprise me anymore, hehe. Might be up to you, but I think it’s cool you found a stamped card in a normal pack! Not sure if it would’ve been a mega ex from Phantasmal instead though, so it’s up to you on how you wanna look at it
As for PT pack compositions, I recommend TiuSam. He always opens PT products early or as it releases, always really informative!
Ah, I just saw your post right after posting this! Thank you so much for all the info! It was both super helpful and interesting, I didn’t know there were complaints about Copag’s quality. I have only bought sealed Portuguese cards all the way back in 2017.
I’m pretty happy with the stamped card, it’s definitely unique enough! I didn’t pull much of anything on the blisters so I’m happy to at least know I have something of an oddity and didn’t get scammed haha, thank you so much! I’ll go check out his channel.
