It’s been pretty interesting seeing the Mimikyu card + binder combo go up in price from release, and the Pikachu cards go down. Wonder if that’ll reverse again?
Either way, I can’t wait to get these cards in! The art is stellar, and the Mimikyu really stands out.
The standard price trend for modern Japanese promos is to start really high and slowly come down and stabilize. The Mimikyu also started pretty high and decreased originally. If the demand is really high and the card is relatively limited, the supply owned by the major Japanese resellers will just dry up and the price will quickly go up. Same thing happened with those poncho eevees.
Since the Mimikyu has been out longer than the Pikachu, it’s unfair to compare their trends today. Give it 2-3 months.
Because this was such a highly anticipated card. Many thought it would be very rare and expensive.
I would almost say these are more common than the Mimikyu.
People were mainly excited about the art! Even for me, I just love the artwork and am happy they exist.
how they were given out was pretty easy. just go to the exhibition and you get one per person. also the fact that the mimikyu binder has sold out already and no longer being made I’m really not shocked how high it will go.
People seem overly focused on the value of these cards. Value is a cool part of the card, but I don’t think that the main appeal of these cards were ever the futures market for them. Artwork and the history, in addition to the way in which they were distributed (even if they are very saturated now), matter so much more than just value.
It’s crazy seeing Mimikyu recently make another large price jump. Within the last week Ebay sold listings are showing between $100-$140. I wonder if we’ll ever see it come back down at this point? PSA 10s for this set are also starting to hit the market as well, so I wonder if a different kind of frenzy will set in as we begin to see what these will sell for. So far I had only picked up a few copies of Psyduck, Rowlett, and Eevee. I’ve been putting off the other two. Welp, time to go do a thing.
I’m hoping one of the four Mimikyu I have coming in will be PSA 10 worthy… the one I currently have is a bit OC. I need this set in a 10 so bad!!
The market will replenish some on the Mimikyu. Everything about the sales prices and pattern screams “short-sighted, short term buyout.”
TBH I still like the Psyduck best and I’m happy to own it. (I’m debating getting the set eventually but I kinda think it looks great on it’s own)
People severely misunderstood the release of mimikyu. I don’t have a dog in the fight, if anything it would benefit me if it dropped in price, but the supply simply isn’t there right now, even on the japanese end.
Initially people thought you could buy one mimikyu a day. What actually happened, 1 card total per account. It will be interesting to see how it plays out 1-3 years from now.
oh people so underestimated how popular the line would be. I was lucky enough to use my friend’s center online account and secure one myself but it was limited to one per account you had. i even tried the next week after it was out and they restricted it to only one per.I’m still shocked it lasted longer than I expected. the price jump is shocking for just that card alone.
The Psyduck is the only one I like to be honest. Might have to get one myself too!
You guys really should pick it up. Psyduck’s only like $10 shipped. Even the 3-card set of Eevee/Rowlet/Psyduck can easily be found below $25 shipped. No reason not to pick them up at those prices. I’m holding them in my hand as I say this: the artwork is truly epic.
I have never thought than only one card in the set would have such incredible increasement in price. We will see if this trend continue of there is a decreasement in the following days. The market will dictate.

I think that it will depend on the country you receive the cards.
In Spain for example, you should pay the customes fees, but not all the packages are revised. But if it is revised, you will have to pay 21% taxes of the total price of the cards (they do a completly unfair currency exchange), plus the custom fees.
Furthermore, depending on the conditions that the seller sets, the customs fees may be included in the price you pay for the cards.

Some countries, like mine, have a customs fee exemption up until a certain amount. Any non-EU shipment with a value below € 22 will not incur any fees here in Belgium. Be sure to look up the specifics for your country.
Are the sealed copies “authentic” sealed? I just bought sealed rowlet, eevee and psyduck lot off eBay
