Im still waiting for my battle styles preorders from them it’s beyond a joke at this point. They allow too many pre orders and you end up waiting months.
I’m very excited for the ETBs for this set, I really like the colors and design. Umbreon and Eevee gets a promo in the 3 pack blister and checklane blister (respectively) as well. Here’s a link with the products if anyone is interested
Not sure if these will carry over to Evolving Skies, but with the lottery cards announced today the Japanese VMAX Eeveelutions set is officially complete
From pixelated leaks of the ETB preview booklets seen earlier today the Evolving Skies list of full arts/special arts/rainbow rares/gold cards are as follows:
#166 Leafeon V #167 Leafeon V special art #168 Trevenant V #169 Flareon V #170 Volcarona V #171 Gyarados V #172 Vaporeon V #173 Suicune V #174 Glaceon V #175 Glaceon V special art #176 Arctovish V #177 Jolteon V #178 Dracozolt V #179 Espeon V #180 Espeon V special art #181 Golurk V #182 Golurk V special art #183 Sylveon V #184 Sylveon V special art #185 Medicham V #186 Medicham V special art #187 Lycanroc V #188 Umbreon V #189 Umbreon V special art #190 Garbador V #191 Dragonite V #192 Dragonite V special art #193 Rayquaza V #194 Rayquaza V special art #195 Noivern V #196 Noivern V special art #197 Duraladon V #198 Duraladon V special art #199 Aroma Lady #200 Copycat #201 Gordie #202 Raihan #203 Zinnia’s Resolve #204 Leafeon VMAX rainbow #205 Leafeon VMAX special art #206 Trevenant VMAX rainbow #207 Gyarados VMAX rainbow #208 Glaceon VMAX rainbow #209 Glaceon VMAX special art #210 Dracozolt VMAX rainbow #211 Sylveon VMAX rainbow #212 Sylveon VMAX special art #213 Lycanroc VMAX rainbow #214 Umbreon VMAX rainbow #215 Umbreon VMAX special art #216 Garbador VMAX rainbow #217 Rayquaza VMAX rainbow #218 Rayquaza VMAX special art #219 Duraladon VMAX rainbow #220 Duraladon VMAX special art #221 Aroma Lady rainbow #222 Copycat rainbow #223 Gordie rainbow #224 Raihan rainbow #225 Zinnia’s Resolve rainbow #226 Froslass gold #227 Inteleon gold #228 Cresselia gold #229 Urn of Vitality gold #230 Crystal Cave gold #231 Full Face Guard gold #232 Stormy Mountain Range gold #233 Toy Catcher gold #234 Fashion Mall gold #235 Lightning Energy gold #236 Dark Energy gold #237 Metal Energy gold
It seems that the special arts of Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon (both V and VMAX) and Espeon VMAX have been omitted from this set, so chances are they might do some other type of release with them
I hope that it’s not released as a box promo or easy to find insert. Often times they are harder to grade because they are damaged due to the packaging.
I really enjoyed the Regular V alternate arts so I’m hoping they do not go into that pile of cards that didn’t come over from Japanese. I’m talking to you Deoxys and Espeon Full Art and Hyper rare
Was looking at ebay for prices of Japanese version and English version of Rayquaza Vmax Alt Art, surprised to find Japanese version more higher priced.
Have generally thought that English versions are more pricier than Japanese version for pack cards.
That’s generally the case for older stuff but starts to reverse around XY. I’m not surprised to see the English cards sitting lower than their Japanese counterparts due to the massive supply disparity, but I am surprised to see how fast those prices are declining. I thought there would be a bit of a premium until the set is “released” at least, but everyone is just racing to undercut and get out while they can. The buy lists of JP shops probably also play a big role in stabilizing those prices, while there’s no hard floor on the EN side.
The quality also appears to be much worse again for English vs Japanese. With modern Japanese, you’re safely looking at a 9 or a 10 for the majority of pack fresh cards. From what I’ve seen, frayed edges are abundant with Evolving Skies. Add in the massive supply, and you’ve got an easy price difference between languages.
English prices for Evolving Skies will tank after release. Going to be massive supply, and since there has been product on the shelves the last few months from other sets, people have been spending money on Pokémon cards. Think of the average family buying cards for the kids, they finally were able to buy packs at the store, so they have burned through their card budget recently.
Thanks Kevin, Lamp and Eevee, I’ve decided to get Blue Sky Stream box instead due to higher print quality, limited printing, lower retail price and higher chance of getting Rayquaza Vmax Alt Art.
Absolutely. Once celebrations releases, I’m sure the prices will be pretty low. And there are going to be like 4 waves too right? So sad about the Kanto eeveelutions alt art not being in the set. Hope they come as promos or something.
I saw a “what if” post of someone who thought the alt art Vs (cut from Eevee Heroes) and VMAXs (the 3,000 lottery ones) will make their way in English collection boxes. If so, that would be awesome. See example below.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED!!!
How’s the quality of this set been for you guys? I opened a booster box (my first English booster box opening since Celestial Storm!) and some of the cards I pulled were in terrible condition straight from pack with serious edge wear and some of the packs were really bad looking. Also had one pack where 4 cards had crimped from the sealing process as they had stuck in between. Lots of OC holo cards as well.
And on the other hand other cards look gem mint. It was all over the place for me.
I posted about this in another thread so I’ll just copy and paste it here:
“After opening my Evolving Skies ETB last night, I can definitely say I’m more exciting for the Japanese side of Celebrations. English in my opinion, just isn’t worth it anymore. My ETB only came with 9 packs instead of 10. 3 Packs were missing the reverse holo. Every single hit card was damaged except for the alt art. And the card stock was super thin.”
I should note, alot of the common / uncommon cards were damaged in the same way as well. Crushed corners and rised edges. But yeah, it’s terrible.
