New CGC prices released

Close on the 1st one, but the other 2 are more than half the price :joy:

I don’t know what’s bothering me more. The fact that the post doesn’t make any sense, or the open ended quotation in the graphic.

I just deliver the news

Even though the post is nonsense the last sale is interesting. PSA 9 shadowless Zard is $3500 so a 7x premium to that is quite a bit even if it’s half off the PSA 10 lol

Yeah I mean I don’t even really entertain the idea of a CGC 10 GM matching a PSA 10 as a serious goal. If they can maintain a grade that holds value high enough above a PSA 9 and another that holds a premium above a PSA 10 (going forward not necessarily with old vintage) then it’s basically mission accomplished I think.

The massive gulf of a price difference we have with vintage cards between a PSA 9 and 10 is largely due to years and years and years of people cross grading, cracking and resubmitting, constantly trying to get a 10. Combined with the pandemic. There is just no way for CGC to recreate that huge premium. Even to many long time collectors here the PSA 10 premium on some of these cards over a 9 doesn’t make any sense.

TBF the pop ratio for 9-10 is 13x. Currently 781 PSA 9 and only 57 PSA 10.

Typing that out reminds me when I graded a 10 and sold it for $1500 ages ago. :skull:

I’d like to ask why is this price speculation being allowed here when my thread gets closed and told to post all on another thread?

Sales data is not speculation

I was showing sales data. It’s been called speculation and told it all belongs on another thread now.

Because we couldn’t handle another @jac2357 thread

Nice to know that sticking up for you on your Charizard error thread goes a long way cheers.

It was a joke, I thought you liked that… :sob:

I know and I reacted as if I was bothered on purpose.
I’ll always have people’s backs on here if really needed.
I’m disappointed I couldnt draw proper comparisons on cgc prices just as it’s about to show properly and when bgs changes I’d have been doing the same there. I like data.

I like your interest in data. What if you track big cards (>$1,000?) in an excel file or table, and then publish the data quarterly to e4? That should give us a good understanding without taking up hundreds/thousands of posts.

That was uncalled for

No, it’s okay! We’re all friends here.

Okay! Just making sure lol

Cgc threads keep getting shut so I thought I’d have one where everyone could contribute as I can’t track everything same as you with your autos and it’s much more fun doing stuff with others. I think including lower price, medium price and higher price would be really interesting as they might well not follow the same curve.

*Off topic threads get locked.

With that in mind, we are extremely lax about off topic, for example, this thread isn’t about the actual topic. The other one was locked because we don’t need a new daily analysis thread on the cgc label, especially when it’s the same 3-5 people. You are still able to talk about it, just in a consolidated thread.

It may be boring to yourself and others but I ran a poll and most people have something to do with cgc be that collect or crack to sell with another company. Noone can know about prices as the data isn’t in yet. The suggestion of one thread for everything cgc or bgs or psa would stop multiple threads. There’s many threads I have no interest in but I wouldn’t want them locked just because only some enjoy them.
