After a while here I want to share my current mewtwo non-tcg flats collection which ive gathered in the last 3 years. I usually like to order them by country and brands. (in some cases there are parent brands with many different smaller brands producing pokemon stuff, those i group all within the parent brand). Im taking a break from collecting right now, so i wanted to share with you the collection before i store it. Hope you like it!
JOYCO (Boomer Bubblegum + Dunkin)
A curious fact about this parent brand, it also owned a brand called Ta-Ta, which produced licensed pokemon stuff in China)
Even though many are similiar, they are from different countries, with different languages and some smaller differences when looked up close. In the photos we can see from several european countries, as well as Latin America, Malaysia, Thailand, India and even a rare Chinese (Taiwan) Mirinda sticker (pink one).
I do not consider any of these as bootlegs since funskool had license to produce pokemon merch, just not tcg. Since a tcg standpoint these are bootlegs, but from a non-tcg standpoint these are the same as some Topps or some Bandai Carddass. Thats my opinion
That’s a crazy collection of flats! I’ve been waiting for a while for you to post your non-TCG collection, and it certainly didn’t disappoint! There are so many items I am not even familiar with/haven’t seen before. One that randomly stuck out to me is the Danone lid. I know those are really hard to find in any sort of condition, so it’s cool to see that you’ve picked one up. Also, I see that you probably purchased a lot of items from a seller on YJA that a number of us species collectors have bought from The newspaper cutouts and calendar piece are dead giveaways (I just recently bought a Hoppip line lot from them with the same very niche items).
Anyway, it was great to see you finally post some your collection, and it is equally remarkable that you are able to trace down what most of these items are/what companies they come from. You always pop in to impart some good information for unknown non-TCG items, and it’s much appreciated
Hope your break from collecting treats you well, and I hope to see you back at it sometime in the future!
This is one of the coolest posts I’ve seen here on e4 (although I’m new and haven’t seen much yet :D). That being said, it’s absolutely awesome to see so many items I’ve never come across in my search for Starmie merchandise. Your collection thread is not only an incredible showcase of your collection but also an invaluable resource for non-TCG species collectors. Thank you for sharing both your collection and your knowledge!
Best regards,
orannge
This is really a phenomenal showcase. I obviously do not collect non-tcg but I enjoy looking at the collections. Yours is really awesome. Just the sheer variety is astounding which really puts into perspective just how much non-tcg stuff you can really find. Also, this cataloguing serves as a great primer for others looking to species collect on scoping and searching some of the items. Great share!
Also the India section is just a hit of Nostalgia. I think the Alpenliebe ones are much later in release timeline but still so cool to see.
This is such a phenomenal and thorough collection, i understand for sure a need for taking a break but i hope to see you return in future! Where there has been some confusion with non tcg items it hasn’t been only once or twice it has been you to come and clarify the situation, that has been most helpful and appreciated
Is always nice to see new mewtwo collectors! I am currently on a pause in my collecting but if you ever have questions or doubts feel free to ask. There is another Mewtwo collector in here by the name of @Fefu
Thanks for the shoutout, brother! Indeed, I’m another big fan of the clone, though I can’t claim to have a collection as fantastic as Julius’s. He’s my go-to guy whenever a rare non-TCG piece pops up—always on top of it, haha.
It’s truly amazing to see the entire collection brought together. For us Mewtwo collectors, it provides such a clear and inspiring picture of nearly all the elements out there. Huge thanks, Juls, for sharing this with us!
