I wasn’t really posting about the number of 10s out there, I thought that was just an interesting bit to throw in. I was commenting about the total number of cards graded by PSA currently. I made a post in the other Scream thread on January 7th saying that the first PSA graded cards were hitting Ebay for sale. That means that it’s been roughly two months since PSA started grading the first scream cards it received. When I looked at the pop report, mid 70s seemed kind of low, but maybe the time since they started showing up graded and now seemed greater than two months to me, and so I just went back to look at the date. I already acknowledged that there are more sitting at PSA waiting their turn. I also have a set I want to send in + extras. Of course the pop report is still super fresh and will look completely different every month going forward probably until forever.
Does mid 70s graded for each card after two full months surprise anyone and seem either higher or lower than they thought it’d currently be? Also if there’s a lack of flooding on Ebay, it most likely shows that many of the sets graded so far are for personal collections rather than immediate resell.
I think the pikachu price will increase over time as the card had a truly limited release (and it’s freaking pikachu), while the mimikyu price will stabilize.
The other cards are tough to grade but were handed out like candy. See below.
36 are 9’s and 40 are 10’s that is less 10’s than any of the other scream cards. Each card has about 70’ish graded so far. I’m not sure how many are out there and would love to know. If I was someone sending in cards I would only send in the ones that might be a 10. How many cards that would grade low are in circulation? I don’t know but it has to be quite a bit.
It might be graded a 10 less often than the other Munch cards but it is not hard for Munch Psyduck to receive a 10.
A card that is a tough grade might be graded a 10 10% of the time but for almost every second copy to be graded a 10 is an indicator that the 10 pop is going to be large and that it won’t be hard to get a copy.
Just to clarify this:
Mimikyu with the binder was also available for purchase at the exhibit’s gift shop (the one at the top floor, end of exhibit, not the public one on the ground floor).
It was limited to 1 purchase per entry ticket, and you had to show your entry ticket at the cashier, which would be stamped to prevent people from buying more than 1 per entry.
I would bet the mimikyus to be more scarce down the road, as this was a purely intentional purchase; whereas the pikachu was freely given to everyone who exited the exhibit and supply lasted about 6days.
As for the creases, dings, and damages on the mimikyu specifically, what happened was that those that were bought via the gift shop were most likely just tossed into a backpack straight after purchase, then the guy would have to walk down 2 floors, exit the exhibit, re-enter, walk up 2 floors again, snake through the entire exhibit to reach the shop again. Multiply that kind of movement a few dozen times. The hoarders were smarter with pikachu, since they started bringing card storages at that point.
Sorry for the semi-necro bump, but have you guys seen what mimikyu has been selling for UNGRADED? There’s one with right now at $170 and one sold about an hour ago for $150 with a pikachu.
I just picked up all of them minus mimikyu. I really want to complete the set, but paying $100+ for a modern ungraded card is a sickening thought.
Just get the graded ones. Besides the future value of them I really like just looking at them…LOL. So a protected case is idea anyways. And this thread isn’t necro yet it’s not that old.

Ive noticed that as well. Unfortunately it’s not the most opportune time to stock up on them. I foresee pikachu passing mimikyu in price within a year. The real question is whether Pikachu is going to come up and over mimikyu in price or is mimikyu is going to fall down below pikachu. I guess only time will tell. I do believe that there are more of each card out there than most people think.
I knowwwww, that killed me when I saw it haha. I’ve been checking multiple times a day, I really just wanna complete the set for myself as the window for financial gain has started to rapidly close.
It’s getting pretty crazy. I picked up one sealed in binder + Psyduck, Rowlette, and Eevee for $113 right after the first huge price spike hit. I was nervous buying at that price, but it was the last one I needed at the time too. Now I’m glad I did, but it’s too bad I won’t be able to get another one just to have an extra shot at grading a 10 for my collection.
You can still pick up a sans mimikyu set for $80 which isn’t insane. I think the pikachu will reach $80 alone pretty quickly. If I were in the position to gamble on them I would haha.
There really isn’t that many in the picture. You could take basically any card that’s not limited to 100 or less copies and fill boxes like that. There’s also 3 different cards in the box. You could take every 1st ed base Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur ever printed and easily fill up a box like that.
I think people are forgetting that prices are based on both supply and demand. The supply has to satisfy the whole world. If that box shocks you imagine a picture of everyone in the world who has bought a scream promo since they released. Your jaw would hit the floor.
A couple weeks ago I could find those three cards all day on Ebay for roughly $6 each. The cheapest Psyduck single I see today is $20. The numbers don’t lie. You could show me a picture of 15 boxes like the one here but the Psyduck would still be $20
@pkmnflyingmaster I agree with you in sentiment, but the difference here is that the picture looks to be one individual with that phat stack of cards. When one person has an abundant supply it destroys the ‘natural’ market especially if they want to unload them. Take a look at the 3 gold dogs as an example, even the snap Poliwag when the winner was selling them they were going for as little as $3k at the time this was around the same time the others were hitting 5 figures etc.
