I agree! Xatu has a really unique design and just never got enough love.

Strictly personally, Igglybuff is the only gen 2 mon I find truly forgettable.
Maybe things would’ve been different if it was a rare in Neo Genesis and not an uncommon in Neo Discovery. Or game-wise, if you encountered it in the wild or had to go through it to get a Wigglytuff. It’s Streaming Stampede and that’s pretty much it. Doesn’t help that it is so ugly.

I remember Xatu for a Spanish Animation series from DavuuWart called “The Pokémon Locos” which is basically a parody of the Mexican culture and one of the main characters is a Xatu … The series is really good … I recommend it

For me it’s probably Pineco & Forretress.
Although I agree with some of the other Pokémon mentioned in general, like Tyrogue, Ledian, Remoraid, Smoochum, Skiploom, etc. I will remember their (pre-)evolution or the other baby Pokémon, and because of that remember these as well.

There was a Pokemon leaker years ago that used a Ludicolo for an avatar, and he would always say ‘NO ES FAKE’. It became a meme on /vp/ and is now solely how I associate Ludicolo.

Granbull really is a great contender. But, so are Bellossom, Hoppip-line, Octillery, Xatu, Stantler, Mantine, Furret ect. ect.
Like I said, Gen 2 is awesome, but it has some pretty awkward Pokémon. I love the fact that the answers with different Pokémon keep coming. We have now pretty much covered half of the pokédex.

Agreed. I like it a lot too, but the stats they gave some of these Pokémon are just harsh.
After the gen 1 thread, and now this one, I’ve come to realize some of my most favorite Pokemon are very forgettable. 
Shout out to all of you who find Pokemon like Victreebel, Jumpluff, Octillary, Xatu, Poliwrath and Magcargo, etc cool and memorable. You are cool in my book. 
Now if only we could get a Victrebel ex…

If we’re talkin about gen 2 BEFORE scarlet and violet existed then dunsparce takes the cake. Hes in like one tunnel in one area, and I cant recall a single npc using em. Now that we got dudunsparce I cant unsee him though.

Octillery was awesome. I rememeber thinking he was super cool because he learned Aurora Beam, Bubble Beam, and Psybeam at the same time—so much variety!

For some reason I always think of Mantine being a gen III pokemon. Might be because Hoenn has too much water lol or that Mantyke was introduced in gen IV…
