I really love Xatu and therefore hate how it has been treated. This is just a really solid design and then they give it the stats of an unevolved Pokémon and forget about it.

Pokémon you never battle against with NPCs and only see in Kanto post game. Like Houndour, Larvitar, etc. I don’t remember Tyranitar existing if it wasn’t for cards

I think these are the three most forgettable.
These two are definitely forgettable, but their later added evolution made them relevant again.

As far as my most forgotten gen 2: tyrogue, smoochum, and granbull. Tyrogue i dislike in general, granbull is overshadowed by snubull, and smoochum i think i actually forgot existed.

I think a big factor of gen 2 forgettability is that lots of them are random unevolved mons that go on to get a cross gen evolution, therefore you might forget they’re actually gen 2. For me it’s tyrouge though… the gimmick was ok but a big inconvenience. Hitmontop was cool tbh.

Granbull the goat, tyrogue is a baby, so what if you leave him in the fridge? And smoochum is close enough to Jynx, so it’s memorable. Case closed.

Jynx is also not an overly loved pokemon, smoochum is a tough sell to be rememberable for anything significant.

Jynx was very controversial at the time, and I think that’s pretty significant when it comes to memorability, now the smootchums connections may be a stretch…

I’d argue against Qwilfish since it did get a regional, and kind of reintroduced it to people. I’d say Skipbloom or Remoraid. Everyone knows Hoppip. And Jumplepuff shows up occasionally, like in Mystery Dungeon. But Skipbloom barely exists and no one ever brings it up unless you’re doing a living dex challenge. Remoraid because who’s gonna remember that it evolves into an octopus.

corphish is fresh on my mind casue I recently bought 2x TMTA sets and for some reason TPCi decided to include 3 corphish in thats set (right after including 3 in the previous set)
but I wont derail. ill wait my turn

I think future most forgettable threads should just be sporcle quiz results without conjecture. I definitely remembered all the ones that people said are forgettable just because I read the discussion first
