For the past few months I’ve been focusing on collecting these sets and lo and behold here’s an auction for every single one in PSA 10. I’m excited and terrified at the same time.
Not sure if this giant flash auction is going to provide some savings in the long run for certain cards or if everything is going to be way over priced due to its exposure. I’m more excited to see what some of the relatively obscure cards will sell for. A lot of unwatched gems in there.
With that being said, I’m probably just going to shoot for the low end ex’s that I’ve personally been having trouble finding, not necessarily the rarer cards. I know there are some R/S and Sandstorm cards that I just can’t find in PSA 10 but probably won’t hit the $150 mark.
What worries me is that whatever the Rocket’s ex’s, high-end FRLG, eeveelutions, and legendary ex’s sell for in this auction may be adopted as a new baseline price, especially considering some of these cards aren’t available on eBay for a market price reference or some form of an expected upper bidding limit. Gonna be total chaos.
Awesome discussion. Yes, I think this auction will actually bring to light a lot about the market for these cards, which do not surface often.
Thanks Hisoka for sharing your collection like this. I hope it will help garner some attention to these sets and bring more casual collectors to Pokemon. These cards are great art-work-wise, but with everything spaced so closely together in time, you pretty much have to put in your highest bid. You simply won’t have time to outbid in the last 20 seconds…
Oh right, I just saw loads of ex and sets after wotc. I scrolled through a couple of pages and gave up. I’ll have a proper search later including year of release.
I had to sign out of my eBay buying account on my phone. I have bids on over 100 of the items so far (only winning 10-20 still, most were low end sub $20 cards at the time) and I know that if I stay logged in, the “bid item ending soon” notifications would have probably broken my phone. Time to sweep the high end stuff one time and see what I can come away with.
