Howdy, this is my first post on efour!
I’m working on some master sets (Porygon and Volcarona) and lately I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of gathering information on the unofficial cards I’ve got to round out my spreadsheet. After asking the people I bought these from and searching around I was able to find a little, but I haven’t been terribly successful overall and can’t read any form of Chinese, so I was hoping y’all could help me identify them.
They’re clearly not trying to be real Pokemon cards and are very unique looking, so I figure there’s gotta be some way to track them down. If anyone has more information on these (manufacturer, set name, year of release, card list for the set etc.) and knows if there are more digital ducks or moths from those lines in the sets and where I might find them, I’d appreciate it if you let me know!
If I find more I’ll add to the post, but for now here they are:
- Mysterious set of two 2024 EX moths- these are thinner and smaller than normal cards, similar in size to the 2010 ‘Pokemon ID Platinum’ set. I believe these are the same manufacturer as the ID cards because both have ‘PoKémon’ written in the copyright, but unlike the cards in that set which have information on the other side, these instead show the regular Japanese back with a texture added to them. The set reads ‘DE2’ and allegedly has 128 cards.
-
2022 Porygon-Z GX- this one is definitely related to the above set but reads 2022 instead, and has the same back as those two. Like the Slither Wing it also features art traced from an official card with a different background, and the set is also abbreviated as ‘DE2’ with 128 cards… for some reason.
-
‘Mega’ Volcarona MX- this one is likely an ID card as it has info on the back and the front is laid out very similar to the ‘Pokemon ID Red and Blue’ sets’ cards. However, nowhere is the logo for Pokemon ID seen, and there’s no year on it either. There’s an identification code beginning with KDJL, which Eif Baby cards also share, so there could be a link there. This one in particular infuriates me because of the implication that there is also a non-shiny version of the card, so of course now I need to find it.
4. (Female??) Porygon- I thought this one was from the same set as Volcarona until I realized it has a border while Volcarona doesn’t. It also presumably has a shiny version, which is going to be just as much of a pain to find.
-
Porygon2- silver card with a completely different back though notably it shares part of its logo with the above Porygon and Volcarona cards.
-
The world’s wobbliest Porygon2- I like this guy, and I know there is a Porygon in this set as well. According to the seller this set might be called ‘Optoelectronic Quick Battle’ though searching this name yields no results. Also has a very different back.
-
Yet another Porygon2. Not much info on this one BUT it does have a code beginning with KDJL and the front looks similar to 3 and 4, so could be another Eif/Pokemon ID set of some kind.
-
A pretty neat lenticular Volcarona. The back doesn’t tell me much and the front says R-106 but nothing else that could help with identification. Wholly different from anything else I’ve seen.
Any direction you can point me in would help, and thanks for stopping by!
