I’m counting down the days until that bigger purchase is announced.

What could be bigger then this? IF its real, this has to be the biggest and best pokemon product to open to date. Unless someone has a sealed storage container of cases like this lol

Here in Japan, he is recognized for exactly what he is.

Yeah, this just seems WAY too easy to counterfeit. There have been some really convincing booster box reseals, and this would be even easier to pull off. Does anyone know the provenance on this case?

As far as I know the provenance trail is a $72k sale last March? At least according to the above link - that case has the exact same number printed on it. I would assume it only sold that low at the time because no one trusted the low feedback ebay seller (probably for good reason).

Ok, so the case doesn’t have rock-solid provenance. That means we have to put trust in it having been accurately authenticated – do we have any reason to believe that the authenticators at “Baseball Card Exchange” have the ability to distinguish between counterfeit and legitimate late-90s WotC cases?

Yep, probably not much. The bigger threat comes from random crypto godzillas inflating expectations across the board by paying top dollar + skim for everything. The woes of multi-class items.
