Haha are you actually complaining that you’re getting taxed more because you are a higher income earner? You should feel fortunate that life has put you in a position where you are able to earn a decent wage and not whinge that a portion of your money is being used to help the people and the country that you live in.
As well as your taxes supporting things like health care (it’s publicly funded in Canada right?), infrastructure, education, and so on, it helps the people who need this support. There are people that are struggling to support their families, can’t afford medical bills and medicine, and simply won’t have the same opportunities in life as other people with more money. I’m from Australia but I’ve taught in London for a couple of years too and I can tell you I see the same problems. I worked in a lower socio economic area in London where all school lunches and breakfasts are paid for by the council/government. Pretty much every every child was living in government housing and there would often be multiple families living in the same flats. Without this support from the government what are these people supposed to do? In the school I teach at now, there are many families who need government support to help them live.
I was brought up in a single parent household where my mum relied on financial support to help us live. With this support my mum still had to work full time but was still able to complete a masters and then a phD in behavioural sciences. Her thesis was published into a book and she has co written other books and journal articles, being an expert in her field. Thanks to the support of the government she was able to achieve this. Lucky the Prime Minister at the time didn’t support your elitist view and tax everyone the same. I feel very grateful that I was born in a country that supported us this way and I was able to go through university and have all of the opportunities I have now and be in a position to give back. If not I wonder where we would be now…
Maybe you should get off your ivory throne and be happy that your tax money is doing good instead of whinging about how you have to pay more taxes. Unfortunately your government and Prime Minister are trying to make things a bit more equitable… which you obviously don’t want. Screw the poor people right!? They should have to pay the same tax as you! Oh and while the tax returns of the lower income earners will be used for necessities such as food and clothes you might just have to wait a bit longer to buy your next Pokemon card.
I believe this convo was about tax refunds, not tax structures. Tax refunds are given out when one over pays regardless of what they earn.
Getting aid and using it to get yourself in a better position to not need it, like your mom did, is the proper way to use it. Unfortunately, in this country it’s used as a lifetime crutch, often generational, and often an incentive not to work or progress in life:( Imagine not being able to afford to go to work cause the entitlements are too juicy. That’s how it is here,
You said he was getting taxed more and should feel “fortunate”? I say he probably worked his ass off to get ahead, making many sacrifices along the way. So he deserves it.
Finally, if you knew how inept and often fraudulent all our governments are you may not be so eager to let them disperse your money. Your England takes 20% of poor people’s earnings plus charges them 60% in extra gas taxes. They are the highest in Europe. Eventually I can see a revolt to change an awful financial crises.

Damn man. Thanks for taking the time to write that. I won’t take the time to respond in length as this is a place I go to talk about Pokemon. But I will say one thing. I’ve been working a construction job since I was 16 years old. At 20 I had my own company because I worked my ass off. The money and benefits I have now, are from working like a dog. Like I continue to do. I never had to fight for a meal, but there’s no silver spoon up my ass. Everything I have today is from good old fashioned hard work! I’m sorry your life wasn’t a fantasy land, but please, don’t take your shit out on me. Especially not on efour. There’s other places for this kind of garbage lol.
Haha no worries mate. I’ll agree with you on one thing, this is a place to talk about Pokémon. I just had to reply to your post (which was political and unrelated to Pokémon). And just because of your ‘good old fashioned hard work’ still doesn’t mean everyone has had that same opportunity. Quit your complaining about paying more tax than lower income earners. Tax brackets are there for a reason. Oh and your Prime Minister seems great btw.

Can’t let that go. Their Prime minister is a jackass who will drive their economy into the ground. He actually authorized a 10 million dollar settlement to an Islamic terrorist murderer. Good luck Canada,
