Leonhart just dropped to shit-tier

Full Art 1st EDITION! wow, that’s cancer

The art is cool, the custom packs and card aren’t, he shouldn’t be promoting that kinda stuff

This is great bait for counterfeit cards on eBay, I can see it now…

***AS SEEN ON LEONHART’S YT - HIGH QUALITY ONE OF A KIND RARE CARDS!"

Just wait until UnlistedLeaf gets a few packs and freaks out claiming he’s found the rarest cards to ever exist in the TCG!

Hahahaha be careful what you wish for;

The ā€œhypeā€ Pokemon channels are basically for kids.

Myself - even as a kid I would have hated them. But it’s what appeals to most kids.

Overall, I have to reluctantly admit that they are great for the hobby, despite how incredibly cringey and unwatchable they are for adults and mature children.

I checked Leonharts IG the other day. He posted something about buying merch, and was I curious to see who actually buys the shirts. Literally every profile was a kid.

Generally speaking, I know its difficult to accurately gauge a viewer on youtube, but there are moments when you can see the actual user behind the comment, and it’s mostly children. The natu how do you do was another example. I would recommend picking up some eclipse sunglasses before watching that video.

Makes no sense to me either. When I was little it was fun to go to dollar stores and buying cheap knockoffs just for fun but that’s different.

Probably got some sort of pay out for this.

Overall in a sense of selling more product and spreading awareness? Maybe, most likely yes.***

When they spew utter nonsense and spread awareness of this ā€œcustomā€ garbage. Not one bit.

***though one could argue that in the absence of these morons (Leonhart, Unlistedleaf) that kids would find someone else to watch. I know kids crave a certain style which is a bit flamboyant and colorful that these guys align with, but can’t all that stuff be done while spreading knowledge and useful information? I don’t get why they have to just make up so much nonsense and spread awareness to garbage items like this. Directly sharing the seller info they are definitely getting kickbacks too which is sickening.

It’s probably parents who want to please their children but don’t want to end up spending too much money on real cards.

I don’t like this but I understand their point of view since it’s A LOT of money being saved. But it’s going to suck when the poor kid grows and finds out all his cards are fake.

Fake cards don’t make any sense to me at all. If the excuse is, ā€œcards are too expensive for kidsā€, that is completely invalid. Current product is cheaper today than any other time in the hobby.

One of my personal worries about fake cards is the compounded volume of counterfeits will create fear in the novice consumer. I have experienced a couple instances where businesses would not purchase pokemon cards at all due to fakes. This is very rare, maybe 3 examples in total. However, more counterfeits in circulation only increases the probability of that scenario.

Hopefully 3-5 years from now when the hobby is older and more mature, the hype channels will have to provide accurate information. I can’t think of another hobby where hype channels are this inaccurate.

Parents need to learn that they can and should tell their kids ā€œNoā€ every so often. Teach them the value of money and all that and if you want to have fun with them make a craft thing out of it and have them draw/color/design/print their own cards which is perfectly fine and legal to do. I wish I still had some ones I made back in the day when I invented my own IIRC # 151-200. I vaguely can picture some of them, but can’t remember any names really.

Buying the fakes that attempt to be real are bad because the kid sees it as getting exactly what they want and it reinforces the snobbish begging ā€œI get what I wantā€ behavior as well as financially supporting counterfeiters and validating their ā€œbusinessā€. Buying the stuff that is ā€œcustomā€ uber fake serves the same purpose of financial support/validation for copyright infringers.

I’m not trying to justify it, I’m just saying I understand why they do it.

These parents don’t care about pokemon in the slightest. They just want to satisfy their kid and get them off their back. They can buy a pack which will most likely disappoint the kid, buy a box for $80 and still risk the kid being disappointed, or buy a set of fakes for $1 and the kid will never ask for cards again.

I don’t agree with this nor do I think it’s valid but I do understand it. Of course there are tons of cards that are super cheap and could satisfy a kid for the rest of their childhood. But sadly these parents are not going to take the time to research cause they don’t care.

I’m very much in favour of rewarding kids for good work. When I used to be tutored in English and Math my mum would buy a pack of cards and whenever I got 80% or higher on one of the problem books I was allowed to have a card from the booster. By the time I was entering highschool I was 2 years ahead in Math. Too bad that work ethic didn’t up sticking for very long lol.

They are just as bad as each other, but Leonhart gets +1 point for his charity involvement. The only Pokemon you-tubers I am subscribed to are Deriums Pokemon and the Charizard authority.

Now people may call me a snob or whatever but here is my take on fake cards so hear me out… As a kid I was one of those who would rather go without altogether than have fakes. Not so much with pokemon as I was only 6 in '99 when they were released and we only got packs from big high street retailers (Woolworths/WHSmith) so I never got the chance to be bought fakes but as I got older and more into Yu-Gi-Oh I remember seeing alot of fakes around. Whenever I saw them at markets and stuff never once would I ask to get any. There was more of a stigma attached to not having the real thing than not having as many and that has stuck with me through my life with things such as clothes, I would rather not have a Gucci belt than to have a guchi belt if that makes sense. As a parent I wouldn’t want my child to have fakes either.

Sadly… current day youth gets raised by parents they are okay themself with wearing knock-off branded product. It’s about keeping up the appearance, living outside your standard and acting like another social class (yes, they still exist) and sadly, that’s the generation that were 8-12 year old in the 1990’s.

For example; My nephew likes Pokemon and he saves up allowance to be able to buy one booster pack every month. It’s his trip with my brother to the toy store and he enjoys every moment. He’s really careful with his cards and binders them instantly. Foil cards go into sleeves I’ve given him. Sadly, the neighbour kid in his knock-off Nike sweatpants gets his cards from his parents that they buy on flea markets, and all other shady locations. Her (his mom) argument is, that the cards already costs to much to give him a pack every few weeks. She also, literally stated to me, that she thinks it’s more important that her son can go along with the current ā€˜hype’ on the school yard, than that he learns the value of money, saving up for stuff and learning that fake goods aren’t the thing you should buy.

So, while my nephew binders up every card he gets and only go out with his doubles to try to trade them, the neighbour kid has already poisoned all collections from the kids around with his fake cards. And sadly they are good fakes, it took me a couple of shuffles to really realize they were fake.

I mean its always fun to watch card openings but:

Leonhart is using 30% of his screentime to tell viewers to watch his previous videos which were awsesome and saying that they all leave a like. It gets kind of annoying. Also i feel like he is trying to hard to get famous…well which he kinda is right now.

I like Unlistedleafs outbursting videos when he opens good packs- I really do believe he gives Pokemonfans what they want. Great Pokemon Content, Fun and since he is still a ā€œkidā€ā€¦many viewer can relate to him. But i sometime get the feeling that is often acting.

My opinions on that.

I skipped 5 minutes into one of Leonhart’s recent vintage pack openings and he was still babbling on about something from the beginning of the video.

Speaking of him… two great new videos from him: ā€œNATU WHERE ARE YOU?!ā€ and ā€œDRAMATIC POKEMON READINGSā€ lol
