I ripped one of these recently to verify, but didn’t record it. I am glad you did!

Does the Korean starter box come with a pack? Because if my memory serves me right I thought the English stater box came with a pack

No, you can watch @thundermoo 's video to see that it does not have one.

This inspired me to go look at my Korean unlimited cards again.

Maybe a question for a new or different thread, but is there a general consensus for the most rare/difficult language for Base set (holos and non holos). I assume unlimited Korean is the hardest to get, but how does it compare to Korean 1st ed? What about Chinese 1st ed/unlim? German? 99-2000 Spanish?

Just curious haha : )

I’m fairly certain the consensus is unlimited Korean. I remember way back in the day seeing plenty of unlimited and first edition chinese packs for sale. The others (except for maybe 99-2000 spanish???) are way more common in my experience. I’d say portuguese and dutch are up there though, while spanish, german and french are way more common.

In my opinion there are still potentially several unrecognized variants of Base set across all the languages based on sealed packs. There are a few that I would argue are just as rare as Korean Unlimited or even more rare, but I am afraid to rip any more packs to check what cards are inside. I am hoping to rip a dozen or so with microscope and black light on video to document the differences.

Korean unlimited is the lowest pop base set by far.
Just check out the pop report for PSA. No CGC Korean unlimited exist as of now, and BGS has 1st edition but no unlimited to my knowledge.
Here’s just a little snippet, the Charizard is surprisingly higher than the other holos. But this gives you an idea of how scarce unlimited is.

Just for fun, Portuguese is probably a runner up for rarity.

99-2000 spanish is not the rare variant imo. The 99 spanish is.

Just a reminder that pop reports are popularity reports, not necessarily an indicator of actual rarity for set cards.

I believe it with Korean cards

You think there are magically more Korean Charizards than Clefairy printed? This pop report difference is not at all due to the popularity and value of Charizard?

Korean unlimited is what I’m referring to. Considering I’ve tracked the 5 that are graded and nobody can find any more…. Yeah. I believe there aren’t more unless someone opens the little sealed product that exists.

Isn’t it a population report? Not popularity

Population report due to popularity of the card submitted. Some low pops are actually cards no one even cares to get graded

Yes, I understand that, but it doesn’t actually stand for popularity. Semantics
