Korean Base set unlimited Raticate

Hey everyone first post on here

I’m writing this mainly as a way to try get information and some possible leads on trying to find a unlimited Korean base set Raticate

I’ve done my own research and asked around and I know these cards are extremely rare but I haven’t found a single lead to ask on so I would greatly appreciate any feedback on where I could possibly look

Sometimes I imagine the dozen of us e4 collectors who have been looking for years for the Korean unlimited version, in a train wagon stopped in the middle of nowhere, and every once in a while someone gets on, asks for his pokemon, and waits with the others in silence watching life go by.

Yep I had the exact feeling from reading the previous posts that I’d be joining a group of individuals who are also stuck on this one lol

I was just talking to a friend last night about Korean unlimited cards. As far as we know there were limited packs opened, I have never seen a booster box. Was Raticate ever in any of the theme decks?

Its just insane how rare unlimited Korean is. I took a quick peak at both active and sold listings on ebay and the only non-holo or non-theme deck card was this single tangela:

I hope it was sold to a species collector who can truly cherish how rare that card is :skull:

I’ve heard rumblings of people with almost finished sets but I’ve never seen a photo of the card

I’m looking for a Dragonair, but I’m not convinced it even exists

I’ve been well-acquainted with a lot of Korean card sellers over the years. Two separate ones have told me the same thing:

  1. Korea only ever saw 1st edition booster packs of base set
  2. After the 1st edition print run of Base set, Unlimited Korean boosters were sold in low quantities in Australia, since New South Wales had a high concentration of Korean Australians.

That is why basically nobody in Korea has seen them. They never were there in the first place. Given the small “second wave” print run size AND the nicheness of foreign-language cards relative to the country they were released in (Australia), these cards are incredibly rare.

Yeah that’s the sentiment I’ve heard regarding these cards would probably be best to focus efforts to Australia then

I just looked it up, as far as I’m aware I don’t think Raticate was in any of the theme decks.
