Lol yeah but it makes it a little more interesting seeing him piss off or bid up the other people. His yuuup thing gets annoying though when he does it too much.
Yeah my favourite was when he got upset and walked out when Barry brought a psychic along to look at units.
It’s hard to know how much of their personalities is for the camera.
Haha yeah that was funny. Didn’t Barry get his own show? I haven’t seen storage wars in a long time but Barry was pretty cool and I sort of remember something about him getting his own show. Not sure if he’s still on sw though.
IIRC, Hester admitted to the show being fake. I’m sure some parts are real, but a good portion of it is acted out and I heard some of the lockers are filled with good items by the SW people themselves. Granted, Hester said that during the period where he had a dispute or whatever with A&E and maybe it was just him being upset, so I’m not totally sure.
No idea. Those american shows get over to us in australia a couple years late i think.
It’s funny how all too often there’s ONE thing that saves the locker and helps turn a profit.
The thing I struggle with is the legitimacy of the shows, like who would keep all their magic cards including a binder with 3 of the power 9 cards that were in toploaders in a locker and then not pay for it? The fact the three cards were separate and in toploaders shows that the owner knew they were valuable, surely they should have realised that they could easily pay the storage fee by selling literally one of them… Or just taken their magic cards out before the lease or whatever on the unit was up?
I agree with you about the legitimacy part, at the end of the day they need to get people excited when watching it.
I also agree with your logic of how people could leave such valuable stuff in their locker and not pay their bill. However not everyone thinks forward so well as shit im not gunna have access to my locker on date x i need to get their and get the most valuable stuff out before that. Also sometimes life just happens and people can’t pay their bills or get to their locker for any number of reasons. How often this happens i think would be small however and there is almost nothing that could wind up with me having all my valuables in a locker i couldnt access…
I compare it to people with gym memberships, who continue to pay gym fees (thousands of dollars) but never actually bother going to the gym and the small amount of paperwork to stop the payments is too much of a hassle. Makes NO sense and is ridiculous, but these types are what keep a lot of gyms running!
Definitely no way they are all legit, but I am not surprised at all to hear about or see storage lockers being auctioned off for non payment when they contain thousands of dollars in stuff. Millions of storage units across the country there are bound to be some crazy ones. Divorces, moving, deaths etc happening that cause people to forget, lose track of or lose interest in paying for their storage lockers.
Since I got back into Pokemon in the past couple years I have reached out to some old friends I used to collect and play with asking if they still had their collections. About half of them had no idea where they were or if they were still around, the other half knew the fate of their cards. Half of those having met the dumpster during a move or spring cleaning and the other half had them in their possession. I was able to buy a few old collections and some were surprised they still had some value. I also got a couple back into collecting or at least to fill out the few cards they needed in whatever sets they collected. It pained me to find that my one buddy who had at least 2-3 copies of the OG charizard first edition fell into the 1/4 people who knew his cards were trashed years ago. A shame really.
