The reason I have decided to try and send some of the cards from the complete set to BGS is because of stuff like this… If PSA Knocks My stuff down to a 9 when its well centered, but They chuck this norMAL GYARADOS In a psa 10 case that would really suck… I just cant be taken those kind of risks with these cards. I believe this gyarados is a very rare and isolated case and this probably won’t happen to mine, but Im really liking my chances with this subgrade thing with BGS… Because IF the Corners, Surface, and Edges score high I should be able to achieve the 9.5 GEM Mint on most of my NO rarity HOLOS. PSA is very harsh on centering and they could knock it back to a 9 on all of them, so I plan on sending 2 cards at a time to both companies and will see how it all does. This is the gyarados that wierds me out, because I see very minty 9’s up on ebay right now that are much better centered, but they most likely have some kind of whitening or flaw/silvering and that would be the true reason for knocking them back to 9’s.
Thing is … As you can see in the photos I posted of alakazam and blastoise… The centering on the cards Im getting is amazing on most of them anyway.
I think this gyarados here that I pictured it a bit off centered and probably doesn’t reflect what PSA usually does to these cards. I reckon most of the time PSA would bump this one down to a 9. What do you think? It is diagnoly down to the bottom left.
Further more… I never grade Japanese normal base set, so I’m not 100% sure. I will say that I believe if a card looks like this and is gem mint condition… PSA should give it a 10 as long as it fits the gemy mintyness and is just slightly off like dis one. I also think I don’t recall seeing a English 1st end shadowless zard in PSA 10 that is as diagonal as dis.
I suppose what I’m saying is. They can be very harsh on the centering all the time and that is a good thing for population and rarity, but then I see a card like this and hope that I get this kind of luck with mine.
There for I think I’d be better suited for bgs this time around for some of the cards or maybe all of them depending out the first 2 go. Those sub grades sort of gives you a better chance at the gem mint in my opinion. I feel a bit paranoid about sending to PSA for these babies… But yeah I think I will go half half in the end. I think the price of 9.5 no rarity will be very close to that of a PSA gem mint 10, considering that 1st ed English 9.5 gem charizard that sold the other day went for about 3,500-4,000usd. Further more the population on a 9.5 no rarity will stay low which is pretty coolant.
I wish I could rule this one or something. Where is @hisoka107 with his measuring methods… The ones I intend on sending in are like perfect, so If they drop them I will throw things.
thank you. I’m not sure about the eveloution box but I’ll take look at that method. The gyarados above is centered. It doesn’t look like it because that the holder on the bottom is covering up part of the border. If you look on tbe side if that the border actually looks bigger.
@missingno Syuju17 has them listed in psa 10 right now… I just tried to outbid the dude again, and im starting to really get edgey at this rate ill end up paying 1,000USD more than the deal I could have got from him when he was gonna take it down for me… HOW SHIT lol, I dont think ill be doing dis xD
@pokemonsyndicate I think it’s great that you’re so enthusiastic but isn’t it a bit dangerous to exclaim your excitement about the auction to the world for all to know? The person you are bidding against could be very well be reading all these posts and you’d be potentially screwing yourself over pretty bad if they know you are willing to pay pretty much anything for it. Just looking out for ya bud.
getting into a bidding war is also asking for trouble, your best bet would have been to put in a huge snipe with 2 seconds left, all that bidding early does is drive the price up
