I totally agree with this. I have won so many bids using my snipes. Plus it’s almost always cheaper than a bidding war.

Thing is… I keep adjusting my max snip[e right now lol… Id ont think i can go any further… IF I cant beat it now, then I cant reaslly beat it at the end in 2 seonds because it will say you have been outbid and then boom he gets it. The bidding war did stop for A few days and it was sitting at 1925… But I decided to try and beat him again lol. Usually I would wait and snipe at the end like i did with rayquaza gold star.
no but thats the thing, just like you constantly adjusting your max bid, so is the guy youre bidding against. if hes got no one bidding against him he doesnt need to constantly think ‘can i go higher’? if you give him only 2 seconds at the end of the auction to register that thought, you can steal the auction

Pokesyn@ STOP BIDDING. Those cards in PSA 10 should top out at about 300.00usd value wise, if that.
I know you can afford any amount but you’ll falsely inflate the market for everybody else.

Sniping doesn’t work anymore as everyone snipes - the current high bidder is doing what I think is the best strategy which is to outbid immediately as it makes you think that you will always get outbid. It also weeds out the not so serious bidders.
Imagine if you were bidding on something and kept getting outbid after every 5 minutes it is demoralizing lol.
but how is it demoralizing if you dont put your max bid in until the final seconds? its only demoralizing to people who are engaging in the bidding war, which is what im suggesting not to do lol
sniping still works no matter how many people are sniping, you just gotta be willing to pay the most, which is how an auction works…
edit; take the no rarity venusaur situation, pokesyndicate is constantly bidding higher than he ever thought he would, all because this guy has had a huge bid on the card since the start of the auction. if the current leader would have let pokesyndicate bid first, and then put his huge bid in as a snipe, he would have got it for $1800 usd, (assuming no one else was interested, and $1800 was pokesyndicates highest bid)

Agreed, how can you possibly justify paying over 1800$ for a card we know so little about. For all we know there can be hoards out there like EX Unseen Forces.
In 1999 Yahoo Auctions simply extended the bidding time 10 minutes anytime a bid was placed late. So sniping wasn’t beneficial as far as keeping the price down.
So sniping does have its benefits.
I was the highest bidder for a fair bit of the auction until it hit 1500… Then I couldn’t beat this fucker. Thing is I’m just seeing if I can now, but it just not happening lol. Gary I will have you know that if your willing to lend me money then I’d be okay with that… However I can’t lend any monrae to people my self because then I’d have to lend more. I racked up 7k debt with my sister. But I’m happy to keep lending off anyone who wants to. XD
I want this card more than anyone, but I don’t think I can pull through with it this time… Lets just say that Im one of the people that wants it more than anyone… Im sure other people do just as much as me, But judging by the bidders there is only 3 who are willing to jump on this for this price. I hold the value of this card very high, paying heaps for something now and getting instead of never getting it is more important to me, but the comparing deal i could have had it for makes things difficult to push any further. My take on the matter to inflation is that it is kind of what smpratte said… That its going to go for a high price because its the first card and it would be stupid to let it go. I’m sure you and smpratte would think its stupid to get it now, and you wouldnt be in hurry. Smpratte striked on the cards he’s got now and thats reason why he has them and noone else does. You striked on your stuff smartly gary and thats okay, but I feel i need to strike on these whenever they come up for a pretty high price, and thats the way IM going to chooses, but I probably wont get this venusaur this time round. I don’t think ill get the venusaur because of the deal i could have got, but also I wont get it because of the wise words from you guys… SO its all your fault xD nah Im just jokings… I think there Isn’t really going to be solid price or market for these cards, it is what its going to be when they come up, and I don’t think I’ll inflate the price for anyone by acquiring this 1 card at its first auction, because by the looks of things everyone deserves a chance at getting this, and if they want to pay a big amount then its not going to ruin it for anybody considering this card may never have permanent, and constant marketness to it. Its not like a 1st edition shadowless holo were Heep’s were stored in mint condition.
I hope so anyway, still I may be wrong, and have been many times in the past, however I feel pretty strong that these will remain in low pop and very hard to achieve in 10.
I have narrowed down the set Im getting cards to 4-6 Strong potential psa 10 candidates, with 2-5 definite PSA 9 candidates. SO in total there is 9 Gradable Holos. I feel only 2 will get PSA 10 because it could go either way… NOW the venusaur will not get a 10. All up Im starting to get iffy with it, and i have been really looking over them and I feel like getting that venusaur nirly as strong as the set, then selling my gold stars so I can afford the set. Hmmmmmmm. I’ll post the 4 strong candidates under here.

@pokemonsyndicate those cards look great but it is extremely difficult to gauge card condition without seeing them for yourself, especially when they’re in sleeves. You may have already mentioned but have you dealt with this person before?
No I havnt dealt with him before, BUt I have mesaged him back and forth about 70 times aNd got to know the fellow… He a pretty good dude.

Yeah me too because its an insane amount of money for 4 potential 10’s. The others have the chance at the 9.5… MAYBE. But yeah, im really hoping for no dissapointz… Like i could get them and they have tinyest light scratch on the holo xD
My thoughts exactly, the blastoise and alka are definitely the best looking, and centering especially on the blastoise is pretty insane.
